Ignorance Breeds Aversion on Social Issues

The less people know about important complex issues such as the economy, energy consumption and the environment, the more they want to avoid becoming well-informed, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.

Tragically, this appears to apply to members of Congress, journalists, and certain politically-inclined scientists as well.

How deliciously condescending of you to mention me. But it’s what I’ve come to expect from the soi-desant expert on all things economic–and all else, besides.
But as has been said, the problem isn’t what you don’t know, but rather what you do know that ain’t so. A condition to which you are not immune, except in your own mind.
