According to a new study released by the Department of Education, students who pursue an occupational credential (an education that is career-centered) are more likely to be employed than those who get an academic credential. This suggests that recent efforts to encourage more individuals to pursue college (President Barack Obama said that all Americans should have at least some postsecondary education) may be misguided. The data also suggest that the administration’s antagonism toward more career-focused educational tracks—often provided by for-profit trade schools and community colleges—is misplaced.

President Obama won’t explicitly say Donald Trump is on the wrong side of history, but surely it’s what he believes.

I rather suspect he’s been explicit about it, it just hasn’t been reported by the DemLegHump Media.

The president basically thinks anyone who gets in his way is transgressing the larger forces of history with a capital H. During the 2008 campaign, he declared Sen. John McCain “on the wrong side of history right now” (the “right now” was a generous touch — allowing for the possibility McCain might get right with History at some future, undetermined date).

Which McCain has shown a distressing tendency to do.

Obama is given to quoting Martin Luther King for the proposition that the arc of the moral universe bends toward justice. Whoever is deemed to be on “the wrong side of history” by progressives is always loosely associated with the opprobrium directed toward the Southern Fire-Eaters and the defenders of Jim Crow.

That’s because they think that everyone who doesn’t agree 100% with them must therefore disagree 100% with them and is therefore ipso facto a racist/sexist/bigot/homophobe/younameit.

For the left, History isn’t a vast, unpredictable, untameable force, but just like someone who might be standing in line next to you at Whole Foods. History is a board member of Planned Parenthood. It reads the Huffington Post and Vox, and follows Lena Dunham on Twitter.

It really cares whether transgender people are allowed to use the appropriate bathroom. History was probably hanging out at the Javits Center on election night and collapsed into a puddle of tears right around the time Wisconsin was called.

The political dangers of this point of view should be obvious.

My liberal friends sometimes ask me why I don’t devote more of my science journalism to the sins of the Right. It’s fine to expose pseudoscience on the left, they say, but why aren’t you an equal-opportunity debunker? Why not write about conservatives’ threat to science?

My friends don’t like my answer: because there isn’t much to write about. Conservatives just don’t have that much impact on science. I know that sounds strange to Democrats who decry Republican creationists and call themselves the “party of science.” But I’ve done my homework. I’ve read the Left’s indictments, including Chris Mooney’s bestseller, The Republican War on Science. I finished it with the same question about this war that I had at the outset: Where are the casualties?

The members of the American Sociological Association have decided to be very angry about the Cleveland Indians “Chief Wahoo” logo, and they have collectively written a letter to Major League Baseball commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr., telling Manfred just how angry they are.

Alert the media! Oh, wait, they already know … because the first thing one does in a situation like this is release the letter to the DemLegHump Media. You might even eventually get around to sending it to the nominal recipient, but that’s not required — he can read in in the news like everybody else.

“Academic research clearly demonstrates” that nicknames and logos honoring Native Americans “reflect and reinforce societal stereotypes,” “undermine” “accurate understandings of” Native Americans and “harm Native Americans” by “depressing their self-esteem,” Lamont claims. Also, she and other cloistered sociology professors are just sure that Native American team names “convey disrespect.”

Such letters as these certainly reflect and reinforce stereotypes about Professors of Sociology as a bunch of far-left tofu-heads. Perhaps they ought to be banned as well.

According to Nevada Senator Harry Reid—who is retiring from politics to pursue a career as a Roy Orbison impersonator—Donald Trump’s election “has sparked a wave of hate crimes across America.” Almost as if they were in an echo chamber together with Reid, the passionately white-hating website Salon confirms Reid’s assertion that ever since Trump schlonged Hillary Clinton in the electoral count, there have been “hate acts reported across the country.”

Unfortunately—or fortunately, I guess, depending on how you feel about these things—it appears that many of these reported pro-Trump hate crimes simply did not occur.

Hate crime hoaxes have been “a thing” at least since the very notion of “hate crimes” was invented. To my knowledge, they were first documented extensively by Laird Wilcox in the early 1990s. In the late 1990s, I even found myself on the receiving end of an attempted hate-crime hoax.

The next exceptionable feature in the Message [from President Jefferson], is the proposal to abolish all restriction on naturalization, arising from a previous residence. In this the President is not more at variance with the concurrent maxims of all commentators on popular governments, than he is with himself.

Of course, it’s obvious to those who were paying attention that the play Hamilton is a Leftist fantasy pushing the Crustian narrative,  but the Left knows nothing of history, and cares even less.

When Denver’s new airport rail line experienced severe glitches shortly after it opened, including malfunctioning crossing gates and a lightning strike that shut down the entire line for seven hours, among other problems, transit officials assured the public that they were just getting the bugs out of the system. But now, more than six months after it opened, the bugs are still thriving.

The crossing gate problem is so severe that the Federal Transit Administration has threatened to shut down the line until it is corrected. The contractor that built and operates the line tried to claim the lightning strike was an act of God, so the contractor shouldn’t be held responsible, but Regional Transit District officials responded that they had pointed out the company’s design was vulnerable to lightning as early as 2013, yet the company did nothing to fix the flaw. Meanwhile, the system continues to perform unreliably.

What is it with Democrats and trains? Why do they insist on living in the past?

As fun as it is to watch those anti-Trump demos on which white people carry placards slagging off white people, and to read white columnists raging against white rage, and to see white women in the press tearing their hair out over white women who voted for Trump, it’s time to take down the modern left’s obsession with white people.

For following Trump’s shock ascendancy to the White House – another WHITE institution – it’s become clear what all this ‘white people’ talk really represents. It’s not a radical, post-racist attempt to expose where power lies in society and discuss how it might be challenged. On the contrary, it’s a racially charged, dehumanising expression of class contempt by well-connected white people, and some non-whites, for the wrong kind of white people: bad whites; unthinking whites; the dim or undeserving poor; or what used to be known, in times when vile elitism at least had the decency to be honest, as ‘the underclass’.

Jovan Wilson, 15, was shot and killed Friday night.

His grandfather is Democratic Rep. Danny Davis, who represents the 7^th Congressional district and who was previously a Chicago alderman.

At least two assailants entered Wilson’s Englewood neighborhood home before firing a bullet into Wilson’s head. Local police say the boy was shot after an argument that accelerated beyond control.

It took me a little while to realize this was a sane strategy.  In a field completely controlled by the left, when you knew that your job was in peril be it through missmanagement or whatever, your last hope was to go incredibly hard left, so you could blame the failure on ideology.  And instead of not being able to find a job, you found yourself lionized by all the “right” (left) “thinking people.”  New jobs were assured.

Looks like the whitest city in America just can’t get it right.

The Census Bureau estimates that the city of Portland is growing by more than 10,000 people a year while the Portland urban area is growing by more than 40,000 people a year, or more than 100 people a day. Despite, or more likely because of, hundreds of millions of dollars spent on growth planning, the region is doing a very poor job of producing the housing those people need to live in.

Metro, Portland’s regional planning agency, brags that not only is the region following most of the advice recently offered by the White House for making housing more affordable, it actually pioneered several of the techniques. Yet according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Portland-area housing prices are currently growing at 13 percent per year.

Perhaps that’s because ‘most of the advice recently offered by the White House’ is just a load of crap?

The incessant pounding drumbeat of Democrat Party propaganda — “Sexist! Racist! Homophobe!” — is intended to inspire hatred of Republicans by depicting the GOP as bigoted, but what is the psychological effect of this propaganda on young Democrats who happen also to be both white and male? Well, the white male Democrat is not only inspired to hate himself, but also he realizes that he can never hope to represent his party, because his party does not represent him.

Lockett’s brother, Gary Lockett, sued Gov. Mark Fallin (R-Okla.) and other state and prison officials saying the drawn out death of his sibling was “barbaric” and that the fumbled execution violated the inmate’s constitutional protections against cruel and unusual punishment.

Lockett, imprisoned at an Oklahoma state penitentiary for fatally shooting and burying alive a 19-year-old woman in 1999, was administered a cocktail of midazolam, vecuronium bromide and potassium chloride, a mix of lethal drugs never before used in Oklahoma.

Oddly enough, I don’t think I’ll lose a lot of time worrying about how long it took somebody who fatally shot and buried alive a 19-year-old woman to die. Perhaps if they were to have shot him and buried him alive it would have been better, but that’s all I can think of.

Just as socialists always claim that socialism’s failures were because it wasn’t socialist enough, Democrats are claiming that they lost this election because they weren’t Democrat enough. (In other words, ’round up the usual suspects’.)

What Democrats should realize, because everyone else does, is that voters rejected both their policies (which have undermined middle- and low-income families) and their governance (which has fueled rage at a power-hungry federal government). Hillary Clinton proposed more of the same. Coal workers said no. Blue-collar union workers said no. Suburban moms said no. Small businessmen, drowning under Dodd-Frank and ObamaCare, said no.

Instead Democrats think last week was an accident. Mrs. Clinton tells donors that she only lost because of FBI Director Jim Comey.Barack Obama faults Hillary’s tactics—she didn’t spend enough time in the right states. Michael Dukakis says Democrats only lost because of the Electoral College. Rachel Maddow blames third-party candidates.

All this denial has cleared the field for Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the leading voice now calling on the party to recognize it has erred and needs change. She is telling the masses, however, that Democrats lost because they didn’t go big enough. They didn’t spend enough. Didn’t regulate enough. Didn’t socialize health care enough. Her prescription: Double down.

The DNC sent John Hinderaker a begging letter. Big mistake.

The Democrats write: “Before Donald Trump even takes the oath of office, his administration-in-waiting is already looking for a way to relive one of the darkest moments in the history of our country”–i.e., internment. That is a flat-out lie. No one in the Trump camp has proposed, or even hinted at, internment of anybody, and any such suggestion would be ridiculous on its face. The concept of interning Muslims is a fantasy dreamed up by the Democratic National Committee to raise money from suckers.

Two green energy companies contributed a quarter of a million dollars to the American Indian tribe spearheading a months-long demonstration against an oil pipeline in North Dakota.

Standing Rock Sioux voted unanimously April 5 to accept two $150,000 donations from ConEdison Development and Fagen Inc., both of which have partnered up to build windmills in the North Dakota area, according to internal documents kept by the tribe.
