Why Is the Muslim World So Easily Offended?

15th September 2012

Fouad Ajami gives it a think.

Modernity requires the willingness to be offended. And as anti-American violence across the Middle East and beyond shows, that willingness is something the Arab world, the heartland of Islam, still lacks.

    Want the real answer?
Because being easily offended works. Being criticized in the public arena lowers your status, especially if other groups are off-limits for such criticism. Moslems have discovered that white liberals are willing to let them use the violence veto on any status-lowering criticism of them as a group.
As a Quaker, I have this to say:
BEHEAD THOSE WHO DEFAME GEORGE FOX!
doesn’t have quite the same impact does it?

Oh, those dastardly White Liberals! Is there no perfidy to which they will not stoop?

  3. Dennis Nagle Says:

So you’re saying if we put Black conservatives in charge, things would be different?

  4. jehu Says:

    Dennis,
Black conservatives have zero power, except to be used as totems at Republican conventions to reassure ‘Nice White Ladies’.
Black liberals are (rightly, in my opinion), much too concerned with real Who…Whom issues to be huge participants in this universalist appeasement nonsense. No, competitive moralizing is mostly a white thing.
