Niall Ferguson: Obama’s Gotta Go
20th August 2012
Read it.
In his inaugural address, Obama promised “not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.” He promised to “build the roads and bridges, the electric grids, and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together.” He promised to “restore science to its rightful place and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost.” And he promised to “transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age.” Unfortunately the president’s scorecard on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful.
That Obama is losing such a Voice of the Crust as Newsweek does not bode well for his re-election. Unfortunately, you have to work with what you’ve got, and Obama’s record isn’t much to work with.

Presidential candidates remind me a lot of project managers–they make a lot of promises which ultimately depend on other people for their execution, when they really don’t have a firm grasp of the limitations under which such other people labor and therefore don’t really know whether they can deliver on the promises made. (This holds true for both Republicans and Democrats.)

Yes, any adult should recognize the signs of someone puffing sunshine. Obama had/has all the signs and we elected him anyway. Not saying McCain was much better but IMHO a little better.
