Calls to Destroy Egypt’s Great Pyramids Begin

11th July 2012

Read it.

According to several reports in the Arabic media, prominent Muslim clerics have begun to call for the demolition of Egypt’s Great Pyramids—or, in the words of Saudi Sheikh Ali bin Said al-Rabi’i, those “symbols of paganism,” which Egypt’s Salafi party has long planned to cover with wax. Most recently, Bahrain’s “Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs” and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt’s new president, Muhammad Morsi, to “destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what Amr bin al-As could not.”

Not to worry  — Dennis assures us that this will never happen.

    When did I say that?

    Let me see…
    “Cheney is a dick,”, check…
    “Romney is a two-faced hypocrite,”, check…
“Repubicans don’t give a shit about poor people”, check…
    “‘Job-creator’ is just a polite euphemism for ‘Robber-baron'”, check…
“Christianity is just a different flavor of paganism,”, check…
“The Egyptians will never destroy the pyramids,”…searching…searching…searching…

    Nope. Never said it.

Oh, really? Must have been somebody else using your name on July 2d:

“So something happening in Nigeria 3,000 miles or so from Cairo means all antiquities everywhere are in danger?

I guess that means that if some fanatics blow up the Brandenburg Gate that the Statue of Liberty is sure to be next.

    Give me a break.”

  3. Dennis Nagle Says:

Did I mention the pyramids? Funny, I seem not to have.

And since Egypt can’t even get a working governing system put together, I seriously doubt that they can muster the organization, money, or physical resources to hurt the pyramids in any significant way. It’s just bluster. Like the Republicans wanting to repeal the New Deal, it’ll never materialize.

Hahaaaa – zing! The problem with “Dennis” and nearly every other Leftist on the planet (not just picking him out of the lemming-like herd for any sort of special attention; liberals are uniformly this way) is that the facts continue to get in the way of their Narratives. Hence, they simply keep ignoring or distorting said facts, twisting them to fit same where they simply can’t be ignored.

Granted, any set of political and moral beliefs that starts with the proposition that all men and women are absolutely equal in terms of talents, intellect, ability, and potential, and that the only reason outcomes in the real world don’t match those aspirations are the stuff of intangible phantoms such as “racism,” “sexism,” “the legacy of…(fill in the blank here),” etc., etc., is going to have rough row to hoe in said real world in the first place. But it is a religion, and true believers are rarely ever swayed by mundane things like, ummmm, facts.

In any event, at the end of the linked article a pair of good questions are asked: “Will all those international institutions, which make it a point to look the other way whenever human rights abuses are committed by Muslims, lest they appear “Islamophobic,” at least take note now that the Great Pyramids appear to be next on Islam’s hit list, or will the fact that Muslims are involved silence them once again—even as those most ancient symbols of human civilization are pummeled to the ground?”

I can’t speak for “international institutions,” but going by the Leftist talking points I see regurgitated from the larger liberal blogs both here by a liberal and elsewhere by others about the big, bad webz, I believe we already have our answer as regards the rank-and-file Left: the answer to the first query is no, though that “no” will be wrapped in layers of attempts to explain why it’s being ignored, i.e., Western imperialism a hundred years ago made them do it; ditto the Crusades a thousand years further back; “Christians are just as bad!!!!11,” blah, blah, blah. The answer to the second is yes, with the same moronic qualifications being trotted out when they are called on said silence in the face of these historical vandalism’s.

So, did you have something to say about the pyramids, or did you just stop in for a sneer after work?

Pyramids aren’t ‘antiquities’? That’ll be news to a lot of people. Let me alert the media….
