Warmth and Carbon ‘Decoupled’: ‘A Surprising Finding’

7th June 2012

Read it.

Scientists are puzzled today by the discovery that millions of years ago levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere were lower – and yet, temperatures were higher than today’s.

The Nature paper, indeed, states that in the boffins’ opinion oceanic temperature and atmospheric carbon levels – generally considered to be firmly connected in today’s climate science – were “decoupled”.

That’s no surprise. It’s not exactly unknown that CO2 has been up to 2000% higher, than now and with diddly in the way of correlation to temps, in the past. The few piddly percentage points of carbon add in the the last few thousand years is really a pitiful thing to base a mania on. But then, pitiful people will have pitiful manias.
