South African foreign minister rents £20,000 private jet over airport row

South Africa’s foreign minister spent £20,000 on a private jet after getting into a shouting match with security officials at Oslo airport when she refused to let them X-ray her handbag, it has emerged.
Well, let’s see what we can observe from this incident.
- Members of the Crust have no hesitation in squandering taxpayers’ money to suit their own convenience.
- Even members of the Crust can run afoul of the Security State.
- Diplomatic immunity doesn’t mean what it used to.

Yet to be explained, of course, is how the South African foreign minister is in fact a member of the Crust–whoever they are. In light of that lack, your first two observations are without substance.
The last is however demonstrably true; in the Age of Fear in which we live, even diplomats must demonstrate their adherance to the Code.
