6 Responses to “David Friedman and Robert Altemeyer on Right Wing Authoritarianism”
The discussion between David Friedman and me over what the Right-Wing Authoritarianism scale measures may indeed make your brain hurt. But it seems to have ended suddenly. I posted a response to his rejoinder yesterday (July 10), but it has not appeared on his website: http://daviddfriedman.blogspot.com/2007/07/loaded-dice-professor-altemeyers.html
Then I tried to answer a question posed by another poster, and could not get that message on the website either.
Perhaps he moderates every comment, as I do, and just hasn’t gotten around to reviewing and releasing yours for publication.
Or perhaps he’s been hit by a runaway celebrity — it is California, you know….
In any event, I hope it shows up; I’m enjoying the discussion.
I hope you’re right. He describes himself as a libertarian, and I doubt he’d shut down the discussion because he didn’t want people to see what I said. But I notice he (or someone else) removed the link to this site from his site after I posted my comment above. So right now I have no way to communicate with anyone else who might have been “enjoying the discussion.”
I don’t moderate. Looking at the site I see my original post, your response, my response to that, and six more comments. Did you post a reresponse that didn’t appear?
I did make a point in my initial response of including my email address; did you send me something about there being a problem getting the site to take your responses?
What link “from his site to this site” got removed? Where was it? I just now got to this site by following the link that appeared on my site, which automatically keeps track of things that link to it.
Is it possible that you clicked on “comments” rather than “links to this post,” and that is why you didn’t see a link to this site?
Yes, really. The Internet is 98% latte foam with a few nuggets of substance thrown in like the lucky bean in a harvest loaf. One learns to savor them whenever one can.
(I enjoy watching His Grace whack people with a polearm, too. It’s an acquired taste.)
To David: Yes, I posted a reply to your rejoinder just after midnight last night, CDT. It has not appeared on your site yet. Earlier, when I went to my “History” and tried to retrieve the message I sent, I got a notice that “Error had occurred.” Now when I go there, I just get a blank screen.
I also tried this morning to post a comment explaining the results of an experiment that might answer a question raised in one of the comments. I tried three times, and could not get it posted on your site.
I got the link to this site from the bottom of your site, where it now has reappeared. But it was not there while ago. I didn’t click on anything different last time.
If we can get past all this, I’ll try to post my “experiment” message and tell all (1?) of our interested readers that I’m recomposing a message I sent last night, but which has disappeared into the ether.

Anybody know what my problem is? (Now, be kind.)

Enjoying? Really?
