A Tax on White People
14th August 2011
South African reader RH sent us the article below, which describes the latest innovative proposal by Desmond Tutu, the retired (Anglican) Archbishop of Cape Town. The Most Rev. Tutu has proposed a new income-redistribution plan that could solve all South Africa’s financial problems: a tax on white people.
Al Sharpton is kicking himself for not having thought of this first. Jesse Jackson is kicking himself because he thought that’s what Obama was going to do — but, as it turned out, Obama screwed him along with all the rest of his supporters.
Come to think of it, isn’t that what was just imposed in England last week? Admittedly, that tax is indirect:
Step 1: “Youths” of color pilfer the swag from businesses. Step 2: The insurance companies reimburse the merchants. Step 3: Under the Riot Damages Act of 1886, the Government reimburses the insurance companies. Step 4: Taxpayers reimburse the Government. The vast majority of British taxpayers are, well, white. So there you go.

So here we have a third-hand report of an address by Desmond Tutu and its implications, as interpreted by the second- and third-hand reporters. (I guess Tim could be accounted a fourth-hand reporter, as far as that goes.)
Has anyone actually read the text of the address, or are we just passing along the hearsay as fact? Because I have a friend of a buddy of a second cousin whose barber has a friend who actually saw Bigfoot…

Google it Dennis.

In other words, nobody bothered to back-check to see if the address is as characterized here.

Just Google it will ya? The story is everywhere. I could not find the text of the address. If you do post the link. I’d love to read it.

*sigh* Do I have to do everything around here?
Here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfH8rQoAnRg
I don’t have a sound card, unfortunately, so I can’t hear the address. As soon as I get paid I will rectify that situation. Perhaps it means what this post purports it to mean; perhaps not. Let me know what you think.

A response thread with a life of it’s own! Too funny!

Thanks for the post. I heard it with my own ears. Mr. Tutu made an appeal for a wealth tax on the rich (whites) of SA to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor (blacks).
Trust me, it was no cake walk to listen to the 22 minute speach. Thanks just the same. The source is accurate.
You can listen to the whole thing but I would start at 13 min and listen through 18 min on the video.
