We have seen the future, and it sucks.

‘Dear California: I’m Leaving You. Here’s Why…’

14th August 2011

Read it.

You see, I love it here in San Diego. The weather is amazing, the beaches are beautiful, and the people are friendly and generally entrepreneurial. It’s a refreshing change from the Bay Area, where everyone seemed like they were always “too busy” to hang out. Here, life is more laid-back, and I’ve grown to appreciate it.

But one thing I’ve struggled with about California for years is the government. (Yes, I’m going to break my own unspoken rule and wax political on my blog.) The government is notoriously business-unfriendly–with everything from high taxes on business earnings to badgering businesses into more work.)

This is what happens when Democrats are left in charge.

And California has beautiful weather. Just think of what must be happening in Michigan.

Brian and I are moving to Austin before the end of the year. At this point, I’m not sure exactly when we’ll move, but it will be in November at the latest. And to California, I say: Love your weather–but good riddance!

Good decision, kid. You’ll never regret it.

  1. ErisGuy Says:

She will bring her California culture, her vile and corrupt ways to Texas, in which she will then vote to make Texas like California. Austin is a parasite on the remainder of the state; a mini-California.

  2. Dennis Nagle Says:

If Austin is California-In-Texas, she can’t do any more harm there than has already been done by Austin’s very existence. (Actually, from what I’ve heard about Austin it sounds like my kind of place…)

    So what’s your beef?

  3. Tim of Angle Says:

No, Austin is What-California-Ought-To-Be-In-Texas. That’s the whole point.

  4. Dennis Nagle Says:

But that’s not what he said.

I repeat my question: If she’s moving to a place which is already “polluted”, how can she harm Texas any further than the presence of the Polluted Place already does by the fact of its existence?

And besides, who are you, his lawyer? Is he incapable of answering for himself?

  5. RealRick Says:

Dennis! I’m surprised you weren’t writing to defend the weather in Michigan.

Like ErisGuy, I also fear the importation of Kalifonians to Texas. In this particular case, it sounds like the author is moving because he really wants a sane life and not just out of desperation, so maybe he’s a good “convert”. We just hope the imports to Austin don’t all plug in their Volts and Priuses at the same time and blow the power grid.

  6. Jay Says:

Dennis, are you that unversed in how a democracy works? She’s one more liberal vote. Enough of them, and Texas will have the business-unfriendly climate that is dismantling California businesses (11.8% unemployment) , instead of the business-friendly environment Texas now enjoys, in which jobs are being created (8.2% unemployment).

She can’t change Austin city ordinances, which are already liberal, but enough more liberals in Texas — even in Austin — could change Texas state law.

  7. RealRick Says:

..Well, that and those damn liberals seem to multiply like rats. I have heard the argument that this is proof that sex is a lower brain function because liberals can’t seem to figure anything else out for themselves.
