Is nothing sacred? Some fiends apparently fake Scotch brands. Fortunately, researchers at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland have devised some new methods involving optic fibers for distinguishing between authentic and counterfeit Scotch whisky brands

Modern moonshiners do this regularly. A bar saves all of their empty liquor bottles. The local moonshiner fills the bottles with cheap alcohol – dyed or flavored a bit – and sells them back to the bar. Patrons ordering mixed drinks with “house” liquor have no clue what’s in their drinks, and the bar makes bigger profit. Unless them ‘revynooers’ come around.
