Somehow, the Unemployed Became Invisible

11th July 2011

Read it.

Duh … because reporting on it would make Obama look bad. If the President were a Republican, it’d be all over the front page.

No conspiracy here. If the debt ceiling isn’t raised and we default, many more than 14 million will lose their jobs. So the deficit and debt ceiling take priority in the news.

Shoot the alligator first, then go back to draining the swamp.

No need for a conspiracy here. The Hive all think alike, and act the same way, like good little robots. That’s why people who watch television news hear the same language with reference to the same incidents; radio talk show hosts make a regular feature out of stitching together the sound bites to show how they all speak the same thing.

Since the alligators are the ones supposedly in charge of draining the swamp, I don’t think we can expect any progress on that front.

All this drivel about the debt ceiling and default is like a spendaholic coming into the bank and crying “Oh, no! If my credit card limit isn’t raised, I won’t be able to pay my bills! Your bank will go bust because I owe it so much money, so you’d better raise my credit card limit!” Let’s see, take a hit now, or lend this idiot more money and take a bigger hit later. Unfortunately, unless the idiot changes his ways, raising his credit card limit doesn’t fix anything, it just … wait for it … kicks the can down the road.

I’m sorry, I failed to make the connection between ranting about the ceiling/deficit situation and your oh-(not)so-subtle implication regarding the unemployment picture, to whit: The Liberal News Media isn’t reporting on the employment situation because it would make Obama look bad.

Last I looked, the news organizations of the world report on the biggest problem of the moment, because that’s what their consumers want to hear about. That’s good ol’ capitalism in action–give the customer what he wants.

Sorry if it doesn’t fit YOUR agenda, but I’m sure they’d be more than happy for you to set them straight. Let me know how that all turns out, won’t you?

If a Republican were in office, every story would contain at least two references to it. “Increasing unemployment” (whether or not it actually was) and “increasing dissatisfaction of the voters” (whether or not that was actually true, either). These stories would run in every newscast and newspaper every day until the Republican was replaced by a Democrat. It happens over, and over, and over, and over.

Hey, if we don’t pass TEH Stimulus™, unemployment will go over 8%! It went over 10%, and sits at 9.2%.

If we don’t raise the debt ceiling, more than 14 million will lose their jobs!

Why is a liberal’s response to failure always “we didn’t do it big enough!!!! Give us MORE, and THEN you’ll see!”?
