Cutting edge synagogue-state clash

25th May 2011

Read it.

It would be hard to imagine a more apocalyptic battle between synagogue and state than the ballot-box battle that is unfolding in San Francisco over the right of Jews (and anyone else) to circumcise their newborn males. Now the battle is spreading down the left coast to Santa Monica.

I have to say that I don’t understand why this needs government regulation. If the ‘anti’ folks want to talk people out of having their sons circumcised, then that’s fine. Why do they feel the need to FORCE their opinion on people?

The answer, I guess, is that this is nothing more than another expression of the left’s view of the world: People are stupid sheep that must be led by the handful of enlightened intellectuals (“crust”).

I do like the part where the ‘anti’ leader says that concerns over hygiene issues can be addressed through education. I suppose that would be as effective in SF as the education about AIDS did in eradicating the disease.

It doesn’t *need* government regulation, any more than the majority of the things that the government regulates. There are some people who aren’t happy (well, they’re never happy, but they’re even less happy) unless they’re sticking their noses into our business. It’s a mental disorder.
