Lakeysha Beard Kicked Off Train For Talking Too Loudly
24th May 2011
Lakeysha Beard, 39, was charged with disorderly conduct after she wouldn’t stop talking on the 16-hour trip from Oakland, California, to Salem, Oregon. The train was stopped short of its destination.
To the extent that there is residual anti-black racism in America, incidents like this exacerbate it.
Beard told Portland’s KATU News that she felt “disrespected” by the incident.
Good.

My only disappointment is that they STOPPED the train before kicking her off.
My opinion is not based at all on race, but on how much someone that rude deserves to be shut down.
I was in a long line at a grocery store carrying several items and coming close to dropping them. The line was slow because various people in the line could not add to “10”, which was the posted limit of items for the line. Finally there was only one person in front of me and the end seemed to be in sight, until her cell phone started ringing. Instead of paying the cashier, she started having a lengthy conversation with some family member. I reached over, took the phone from her hand, put it to my head and said, “She’ll have to call you later”, hung up the call and handed the phone back. She started saying things about me being rude, but the looks she was getting from the folks behind me in the line convinced her to pay and leave. The cashier had a really hard time trying to keep a straight face.
