Is Christine O’Donnell a Nut?

David Friedman thinks not.
Any desire on my part to research this for myself is insufficient to overcome my native indolence, so I’m happy to accept the results of his labors.

She is a limited-government, cut-spending conservative who would not bow down to the RINO establishment Republicans of Delaware. So, of course, the establishment and media painted her as an extremist. Now it’s the Democrats’ turn.
She is imperfect, and has screwed up along the way occasionally. These screw-ups are being deliberately distorted to paint her as a nut.

Native indolence – what a wonderful description. With a deliberate – or, as is more likely these days, ignorant – misconstruction, it is redolent of the “pygmy Bandar” of the old Phantom comics.
Also, the phrase seems more mellifluous and cultured than anything using “dilettante” or “lazy,” which are the words I tend to use in reference to myself.

One could argue that only people who are nuts run for office. You can make more money and live a better life without becoming a target.
Being from an occupied country far from Delaware, I hadn’t heard of O’Donnell before this election. When I looked for info, all I see are bits of information that make her appear to be a real loony. The odd thing is that none of the info seems to be solid; it’s made up of subtle hints. “She graduated from X, but didn’t get her degree issued until Y which her staff claims is because of Z, but we don’t have proof.” See? Sounds fishy, but really just says they lack information. No doubt a lot of this comes from her being bashed by the established Republicans she ran against over the last two elections.
Crazy or not, the fact that she really, really pisses off the Marxists and RINOs makes her OK in my book.

I don’t see that a state whose people kept returning Joe Biden to the Senate has any grounds to complain that anyone is a nut.

She led a discussion on women in *The Lord of the Rings* at the Intecollegiate Studies Institute, where she’s the communications director.

If she’s a nut, she’s our kind of nut.
