The BP Shakedown
29th July 2010
With even Time magazine’s Michael Grunwald reporting that the BP gulf spill, now capped, “does not seem to be inflicting severe environmental damage” and even the New York Times reporting, “The oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be dissolving far more rapidly than anyone expected,” the question arises: where does BP go to get its $20 billion back?
Much like those the-world-ends-Thursday cults, the EnviroNazis seem to think that, when their doomsday scenarios fail to pan out, they can just say ‘Never mind!’ and everybody gets a do-over.

Whats amazing is that folks who have actually worked on oil spills – like me – tried to tell people that everything spewed upon them by the government and the LSM was crap. No, some news reader with glued hair is much more acceptable to the dumbed down public.
That’s not to say that BP should be in the clear. Among oil industry folks, BP is a joke. Too many shortcuts, too little management (but lots of executives!), and complete disregard for reality – wait, it’s starting to sound like a description of the “O” Administration. I guess birds of an oily feather…..

I have no problem with BP getting raked over the coals, I’d just like to see it for legitimate reasons (i.e. not political scapegoating) that will provide the correct incentives to others. ‘Be safer’ is a good message, ‘pay off Washington’ is not.
