People in America forget (if they ever knew) that Christianity isn’t just a religion — it’s a church, an organized community with a hierarchy of authority and defined criteria for membership, just like the Boy Scouts or the Marine Corps.
This is why I always have to laugh at the “evangelicals” who bitch and moan about Mormons not being “real Christians”.
Guys, from the standpoint of the Church that was founded by the Apostles, you aren’t “real Christians” either.

Fortunately, that Church still exists, and has a way of determining who belongs to it, and who does not — just like the Boy Scouts or the Marine Corps.
