A compass? Only if you plan to go somewhere. Unless you have to move, I suspect staying put would be a lot safer. Forget that crank can opener and get a couple of P38 military issue can openers. Also forget that “multitool”. They’re absolutely useless. A couple of screw drivers, a pair of pliers, and some wire cutters will do you more good.

Other items they didn’t think of:
    1. An area of ground with few tree roots, suitable for burying problems. Hint: Aerial searches look for rectangles. Bury them standing up so the ground is disturbed in a circle.
    2. Serious quantities of ammo. Let your neighbors stockpile food. People with ammo can take the food later.
    3. A crossbow. Cartel folks are now carrying them across the border, along with AR15s. Bows are quiet.
    4. Knife sharpening equipment. You should have to sharpen a knife as one of the requirements to get your Man Card. There also should be a Man Card.
    5. A .22 with a silencer. See Items #2 and #3.
    6. Salt. The pioneers always carried salt for cooking and preserving meats.
    7. Potassium Iodine (KI) tablets. If nuclear bombs get used, this can prevent radioactive iodine from accumulating in your thyroid.
    8. A still. Some of my ancestors lived in the extreme poverty of Appalachia and making ‘shine saved them from starvation. Also you can purify water, if that’s what you want.
    9. Mosquito repellent. On the Gulf Coast, mosquitoes are more likely to kill you than any invader.
    10. Soap. Dishwashing liquid. Detergent. Forget making it from ashes, like the pioneers.

One other item, as suggested by Douglas Adams: A towel.
