The thread that ties the recent chemical spills together (Vox) The author’s premise is that as long as we have an oil & gas industry, chemical spills will happen. The implication is that we must therefore eliminate the oil & gas industry in order to prevent chemical spills. This is like saying that road accidents will happen as long as we have an auto industry, and therefore we must abolish the auto industry in order to prevent road accidents. The flaws in this reasoning are left as an exercise for the reader.
