I have family that lives in an area with a very large Amish population. It’s amazing to see how happy they are with their lifestyle. Everyone has purpose in their lives, and it’s every day. They’re not hung up on the “latest and greatest” of trends. They go to church every week and yet don’t pester anyone else about religion. The kids learn trades as early teens, so by the time an Amish carpenter is 21, he’s an expert at it. They work hard, save their money, and pay cash for everything. They don’t get mixed up in politics. They admire people who are honest and hardworking, and they shun outsiders who aren’t both of those.

Covid-19? When they do communion, they all share the glass. Covid hit them all. Some died, most lived, and in no time their whole community was immune. While everyone else went into hiding, they worked and they profited very greatly from the situation. They believe death is part of normal life and that it’s under God’s control. Most Americans think that if they eat the right things and get the right meds, they can life forever – and they’re always disappointed when they find out it’s not true.
