    Because when a Texan sees a snake that size, he immediately begins to estimate how many boots can be made from that monster. Also, shooting critters that have the potential to eat you is considered a duty.

    Can’t vouch for python, but rattlesnake is closer to chicken than any other common meat.

    Of course, one might expect that “human fed python” might be tainted just a bit.
