Obviously multiple factors at work here. Just think of all of the women who’d never so much as touch a spider (my mother, for example, would have to get out a vacuum and suck it up) and vote Democratic versus all the mostly-male likely-Republican hunters and fishers who will kill an animal, gut its body, and then eat it.
A possibly controversial interpretation of the other major finding of the research is that liberals are more likely to have had abusive parents and therefore feel less resistance to hurting them.
