I used to work at a chemical plant in Pasadena TX. After I left, there were news reports of racial problems and nooses appearing in the plant structures. I called a friend of mine and told him I was shocked, as I hadn’t seen any racial problems when I worked there. He laughed and told me that the nooses had been put out by the union guys because of something the plant manager did. (He was a miserable bastard in every sense of the term. If I had seen someone hanging him I would have waited until the next day to call 911.) Somehow the news media found out and came to the plant to question the workers. The guys being interviewed played it up as a racial problem because that’s what the media asked about. The company did all sorts of bowing and scraping to fix the problem, while the workers thought all the crap they stirred up was funny.
