David Brooks, the pet pseudo-conservative at the New York Times, gets a lot of unearned respect from the Usual Suspects in the National Review/think-tank crowd, and I’ve never understood why. When he is right, it’s when he writes a thumb-sucker full of tedious platitudes, and when he addresses current affairs, he is invariably wrong.
