The Reason Americans Buy Refrigerated Milk and Europeans Don’t

Read it.

Horizon organic milk, which is what I use, is also ultra-pasturized, so it lasts about a month. The change in taste makes it a bit sweeter. (I still keep it refrigerated.)

Neither of these processing methods improve the taste of the milk. It is far better when it is fresh and unpasteurized. When I was a kid, my mother’s uncle had a dairy farm and the milk was picked up by a truck every other day. That meant 4 milk batches were put into the refrigerated tank. We used milk from the first batch, as the flavor deteriorated noticeably when a new (warm) batch was added. Since it was not homogenized, the cream would float on top in little lumps. (Holstein’s produce an amazing amount of milk, but very little butterfat.)

Hard to imagine that you can be jailed for drinking fresh milk in these socialist snowflake times.
