Virginia Police Officer Suspended After Turning in Suspected Undocumented Immigrant Over to ICE

2nd October 2019

Read it.

The Fairfax County Police Department enacted a policy in 2007 that prohibits officers from confirming a person’s immigration status and detaining them solely based on civil violations of immigration law.

“This is an unfortunate issue where the officer was confused,” Police Chief Edwin Roessler Jr. said. “We have trained on this issue a lot. This is the first time we’ve had a lapse in judgment, and the officer is being punished.”

Fairfax County is more like California than most of California. (By comparison, Austin looks positively Republican.) Moscow doesn’t have as oppressive of a government. A doctor (related to my ex) built a new office in a medical arts building. The office has a bathroom off of the waiting area that is fully compliant with every standard there is, but the doc decided he’d like a small bathroom off of his private office so that he could do his business and wash his hands before seeing patients. Oh, no, says Fairfax County, every bathroom must meet all the standards for wheelchair access, toilet size, lighting, etc., etc. The resulting bathroom was 4x the size and required him to move several walls. Similarly, a petroleum storage facility in the county was denied the use of a change room because the electrician put a light switch on the right side of a post instead of the left side that was on the approved drawings. There was an additional 3 month waiting period for re-inspection to allow occupancy.

One has to assume that being located that close to Washington is the reason that the residents think an endlessly growing government is a good idea.

Trump’s Swamp is far larger and deeper than most imagine, and it keeps growing.
