This is exactly how Microsoft became a giant and extremely wealthy corporation. The original inventors of DOS couldn’t let IBM lease the software because their attorney insisted on reading the miserably long IBM contract. Bill Gates called and offered to buy the software outright, did so, then leased it to IBM for a fortune.
Got called to jury duty once where an attorney was on trial for DWI. He brought his entire law firm to fight his case and the prosecutor’s office rose to that challenge. By the time the voir dire was finished, the jury pool wanted to give both sides the death penalty. When the lucky among us were finally released, we ran from the building.
