If Cinema Is to Be Truly Representative, Film Criticism Needs to Include More Women and Writers of Colour

Why? The assumption here is that ‘cinema’ needs to be ‘truly representative’, an assertion for which neither evidence nor argument is offered. In this most politically correct of all possible worlds, if there are an insufficient number of ‘women and writers of color’ in film criticism, presumably not enough of them have stepped up to the plate and opinionated, and if it’s anything that women and writers of color do not lack, it’s opinions.
The market works, even when you pretend that it doesn’t.
