No, it wasn’t. It got boring VERY quickly.
Lincoln Logs make great fire-starters … when properly chemically treated beforehand.
Just sayin’.

“Erector Sets” were very popular (or at least very common)in my youth. There were never quite enough pieces to actually build anything, but there was a motor and some pieces that could be used destructively. (Ahh, the childhood memory of the smell of ozone.)
Lincoln logs were OK, but all you could really build was a house. Fascinating for about 10 minutes or less.
We made various attempts at setting up model trains, but the tracks would always fall apart. I guess people who are really serious about them screw the tracks onto plywood to hold them together. Always wanted a steam version that you could crash and blow up. Grownups like to build things; kids like to build things only so they can be destroyed in some big and catastrophic way. Lego towers can scatter parts throughout the house, if crashed strategically. There’s even a rule that says that “Indestructible toys can be used to break other toys.”

My older brother was a big HO model railroad guy, had a setup on a sheet of plywood that was pretty impressive.
And, as I say, when properly modified with appropriate chemicals, Lincoln Logs were great for ignition purposes.
