One Response to “Local Property Dispute Grows Into International Issue for Kazakhstan”
I have observed this situation from the beginning. It is religious discrimination combined with a land grab. There is a document issued by the Kazakh ministry of Justice giving the provincial governor step by step details on how to execute court cases against the society ending in the liquidation of the society. It has been planned from the top … and the Kazakh government denies the truth. The only land which has been offered as compensation is 5 acres of barren land as opposed to 116 acres of a fertile oasis. And Yerali Tugzhanov of the Religious Committee makes promises which he cannot fulfill. At the present moment he will not even meet with the society members. The actions of the Kazakh government are not befitting a nation that wishes to be a leader of a democratic organization such as OSCE.
