Heading into the final week of the 2020 campaign, the most important names on the ballot might not be Donald Trump and Joe Biden, but rather three third-party candidates: Howie Hawkins, Jo Jorgensen, and Kanye West. Hawkins is running as the nominee for the Green Party, Jorgensen the Libertarian Party, and West an independent. These candidates likely have the power to sway who is sworn in as president next January.

Nearly a third of black voters would cast that ballot for President Donald Trump “if the presidential election was held today,” a new survey reported.
According to Rasmussen, that’s exactly 31% of black voters on Thursday, an uptick from 27% on Monday. The polling organization predicted the result of the 2016 presidential election.

With just five days to go, polls show a tight race in many of the key battleground states. But one place where the race isn’t tight: newsrooms across America. The country’s newspapers have absolutely thumped Donald Trump in their official endorsements, favoring Joe Biden by a count of (88) to (7).
Out of a total of (95) newspapers that have offered an editorial on who their readers should vote for, 88 (93 percent) of them have endorsed Joe Biden. Only seven (The Las Vegas Review Journal, Santa Barbara News-Press, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, The Spokesman-Review, The New York Post, The Washington Times and Boston Herald) have advised voting for Trump.
I still read the news, but I refuse to pay for it. No way I’m going to shell out money for lies.

The elderly victim that was “virtually beheaded” had come to pray at or near the Notre-Dame basilica in Nice, BBC reported. Two of the people who died were killed inside the church, and a woman was able to flee to a nearby cafe after being stabbed several times before dying later that day. One of the victims is believed to be the church warden, Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi said, according to Reuters.

What goes down, must come up, and one quarter after US GDP collapsed by a record 31.4% annualized, moments ago the BEA reported that in Q3 the US economy rebounded by a similarly record high 33.1%, the biggest annualized increase in history.
This isn’t as amazing as it appears, because most of that growth is just a return to normalcy after the Pandemic Panic, but it’s still a Trump win.

Call me arrogant, but I’d rather optimize my indoor environment than try to spend more time in the capricious outdoors. I think it’s defeatism to give up on improving our indoor spaces and resign ourselves to the fickle weather and seasons.
If I was going to create an ideal environment for a human, I think there are several things I would include that we routinely fail to include in our homes and offices.
I see some good ideas here.
One common piece of advice given by doctors to insomniacs is to only use your bed for sleeping and for sex, and it’s good advice. If you use your bed for reading, studying, and watching TV, then your mind will not form a strong association between the bed and sleep, and you will have a harder time falling asleep.
Many people make this mistake.

Severian blows the whistle.
In an offline, a reader* argues that the Biden/Harris ticket isn’t just a “protect the brand” sacrificial lamb, as I’ve been suggesting. Rather, this is the prelude to them pulling the trigger on massive civil unrest nationwide, which has been the plan all along – go all in; force Trump to roll the tanks. They want another Kent State, in other words, only this time, it’s everywhere.
…
…unless the pollsters are in on it. We can excuse 2016 — they were wishcasting. They ended up with egg on their faces, but it wasn’t a job killer. This time it will be. The only explanation I can think of that makes sense is that yeah, they’re in on it. The “Biden is leading yuuuuge!” narrative is exactly that, a narrative, so that when Trump wins, the Democrats can jump up and exclaim that the very fact Biden was up so big, yet lost, proves that the GOP rigged the election. And then the riots start for real.

The Communist Party has begun expanding the concept of the nation, attempting to create a new type of global entity. But back home, large numbers of people within the country’s borders no longer see themselves as Chinese at all. From Kashgar to Causeway Bay, millions of citizens are beginning to define themselves in direct opposition to the status that appears on their passports. Today we find that the very notion of a “Chinese” identity is being alternately stretched and compressed, warped and concertinaed, and our old classificatory grid provides us with no meaningful guide.
First, the expansion. The Chinese authorities are looking to win recruits to their hyper-nationalist cause, and so Party propaganda now preaches a new China—a China that includes not only the 1.4 billion citizens living within the country’s borders, but also the huaqiao (Chinese citizens living overseas) and the huaren (ethnic Chinese with foreign citizenship).3 “The unity of Chinese at home requires the unity of the sons and daughters of Chinese abroad,” according to a CCP teaching manual for United Front cadres. The Party hopes that by appealing to these vast groups, it can “awaken their ethnic consciousness,” in the semi-mystical words of He Yafei, deputy chief of the Party-run Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (OCAO).
Hitler’s vision was not so all-embracing.

In her essay “Stop Being Shocked” published October 14 on Tablet, Bari Weiss listed troubling anti-Semitic trends taking place in the Progressive wing of the Democratic Party. She brings up multiple true-life examples reinforcing her assertion. She then goes on to say that she, like the majority of American Jews, is “disgusted by Trump and Trumpism”; a movement which in her words “normalized bigotry and cruelty in ways that have crippled American society.”
In his book Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning, published in 2009, Jonah Goldberg highlights penetrating methods and tools used by progressive Democrats to vilify their opponents. Nevertheless, today, Goldberg is a member of the #NeverTrumper community. He finds members of the American Left like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris less offensive than the intrepid, braggadocious, and proud American patriot Donald J. Trump.
I suppose mainstream media provide many Americans with necessary reasons to generate feelings of “disgust” toward Trump. “The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses,” wrote Vladimir Lenin 100 years ago. He continued: “He who now talks about the freedom of the press goes backward and halts our headlong course toward socialism.” Mainstream media omit Trump’s administration efforts to improve the lives of low and middle-income Americans with newly designed trade agreements; they don’t discuss policies that revived crippled economy. Nor do they highlight the tremendous success of the Trump administration in the Middle East.

ZMan looks at the changes.
An old Ronald Reagan joke from the 1980’s was that the closest thing to immortality was a government program. The first time he said it was in his 1964 speech, A Time for Choosing and it was not intended as a joke. By the 1980’s he had mellowed and the line was so obviously true it made a great punchline. In one of life’s great ironies, the conservative movement actually proved the maxim correct, by never cutting a single program in their time in control of government.
It is a good thing to keep in mind when thinking about the end game for the Covid-19 panic that is entering the ninth month, depending upon who is counting. The great and the good are telling us the prophesied second wave is upon us. Britain is back in lock down, even though all the evidence says it does not work. The Welsh are banned from buying clothes and snacks. The Scots saw their pubs closed. It’s all a big drama to prove that the prophesy was true.

Scientists at Australia’s RMIT have developed a tiny sponge with big potential, and say the micron-sized material can be used to convert discarded cooking oil into biodiesel in a very cost-effective manner. And the catalyst is no one-trick pony, with the ability to also turn other waste products into valuable building blocks for a range of materials.
The sponge-like material is a new type of ultra-efficient catalyst for turning complex molecules into raw materials. The RMIT team behind it actually describes it as the first of its kind, in that the ability to carry out a series of different chemical reactions within the one material while offering a high degree of control over the output is unprecedented.

With the conventional wisdom increasingly prejudiced and extremist on the question of who are the Good Guys and who are the Bad Guys, how much longer can we expect the federal government to collect and publish objective crime statistics by race? After all, nothing undermines The Narrative more than official numbers about who are the real victims.
Would a Biden administration make it harder for citizens to access data on crimes committed by blacks versus whites?
This may sound paranoid, but there is precedent. Back during the Bush administration, the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics posted homicide count graphs online in convenient HTML format that made them easy to cite in online debates. Under the Obama administration, however, that was deep-sixed and only the much more awkward PDF format remained. PDFs are fine for people like me willing to read thirty-page reports to find one key data point, but they are pretty useless for informing the general public.

Before I became a parent, I didn’t have especially strong feelings about the time shifting by an hour twice a year. Like most people I was aware of the downsides — increased car accidents, schedule confusion, etc. — and I figured it would be better to knock it off. But I didn’t feel personally offended by having to mess with the handful of clocks in my life that don’t switch automatically. I’m not sure I even had an opinion as to whether, when we stopped changing, we should go with Standard Time or Daylight Savings.
With kids in the fall, it’s different. The days slowly get shorter, cutting deeper and deeper into the early-evening daylight hours where the young ones can play outside. And then, bam, the time change takes away another hour all at once, just because.
As if anybody spent time outdoors any more, with or without kids.

Matt Taibbi weighs in on the latest fashionable fantasy.
How do you call something “Russian disinformation” when you don’t have evidence it is? Let’s count the ways.
We don’t know a whole lot about how the New York Post story about Hunter Biden got into print. There are some reasons to think the material is genuine (including its cache of graphic photos and some apparent limited confirmation from people on the email chains), but in terms of sourcing, anything is possible. This material could have been hacked by any number of actors, and shopped for millions (as Time has reported), and all sorts of insidious characters – including notorious Russian partisans like Andrei Derkach – could have been behind it.
None of these details are known, however, which hasn’t stopped media companies from saying otherwise. Most major outlets began denouncing the story as foreign propaganda right away and haven’t stopped. A quick list of the creative methods seen lately of saying, “We don’t know, but we know!”

The Other McCain sums it up.
This is the only political principle you need to guide your election choices. Never vote for a Democrat, nor support any policy endorsed by Democrats. Insofar as it is possible, avoid residing in any community where Democrats are a majority, but if it happens that you find yourself living in a “blue state” (e.g., California) try to find a place to live in that state that is “red” (e.g., Kern County). Apply the same principle to your choices in terms of education and employment. Where should you go to college? Someplace where students care more about football than “social justice.” Where should you work? A private sector company that actually produces goods and services for profit, and not one of these gigantic “woke” conglomerates that embraces “progressive” values.
Democrats always ruin everything. Communities that were once peaceful and prosperous can rapidly be converted into dangerous hellholes, if the people start electing Democrats. Once upon a time — up until the 1960s — Detroit was one of America’s great cities. Then Democrats got in charge of the place and turned it into a desolation, where many acres of residential property were bulldozed into vacant lots. Every law-abiding resident who could afford to get out of Detroit fled the Democrat-controlled city, and a similar process can now be observed in many other places that Democrats have turned into hellholes.
The Joe Biden campaign is about doing to America what Democrats have done to Detroit (and Baltimore, and Chicago, and every other crime-plagued hellhole city in America). If you want the entire country to become violent and dangerous, populated by criminals, drug addicts and sex offenders, then by all means, you should elect Joe Biden president.
And that’s really all you need to know.
