Who Rules The World?

Just in case you were wondering. I know I was.
Good to know that I qualify if someone decides to pick me for a world-ruling-leadership slot.

I’ve been pointing out for a number of years the striking growth in antiquarianism among opinion-molders. E.g., the NYT’s “1619” crusade, the constant invocations of redlining in the middle of the 20th Century, Emmett Till’s murder in 1955, etc etc.
Not that long ago, in contrast, the media’s version of history more or less started sometime between JFK’s assassination and the Beatles’ appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

It’s that time of year again, when the cold bitter truth about our wretched Thanksgiving holiday must be brought to the surface. Rather then let today’s Americans celebrate a day of gratitude for our blessed lot in life in this successful, multicultural country, we must fixate on North America’s first bloody instances of identity politics.
What we call ‘Thanksgiving’ is the traditional English harvest festival of Martinmas, although they couldn’t call it that because Protestants don’t have saints, so pop a ham in the oven and let the Scraelings do their Cultural Appropriation somewhere else.

The first migrant deported under the Trump administration’s new asylum program with Guatemala opted to go back to his home county instead, an indication of how other asylum seekers may respond to the policy.
Despite claiming to be fearful of returning to his home country of Honduras, Erwin José Ardón Montoya — when given the choice of receiving asylum protection and a job in Guatemala — opted instead to go back to his village, according to The Associated Press.

ZMan scratches his head.
One of the puzzles to the impeachment stuff is why certain elements of the ruling class think this is a productive use of their time. The impeachment show put on by the Democrats last week struck most people as boring and weird. It was mostly a parade of people with funny sounding names babbling about insider baseball. There was also the fact that the guy appointed to be the master of ceremonies gives people the creeps. Adam Schiff looks like frog peeping through the ice. He is a very odd man.
One of the most telling arguments against democracy as a political system is a close examination of the sort of people that get elected to Congress. Any political system under which Sheila Jackson Lee or Alcee Hastings is chosen to take part in the creation of laws is obviously seriously defective.

Learn to think in microsteps. If you are experiencing couch lock, try wiggling one finger. Then build from there.
Hypnotists and entrepreneurs have overlapping thinking styles when it comes to motivating themselves to take action. When entrepreneurs don’t know how to get from A to B, they take the smallest step in that direction that is available to them, and then see if they can figure out the next one from that new starting point. Hypnotists who see humans as programmable entities understand that they have to start with small suggestions, such as “Your eyelids feel heavier” in order to work up to larger actions, such as “Your arm is so light it will start to float.”

John Hinderaker doesn’t like Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren very much.
Shrinking violets don’t become presidential contenders. Still, even at the highest level of overweening ambition, Elizabeth Warren stands out. She has clawed her way to the top by hook and by crook. One of her favorite techniques is the bald-faced lie. As an academic, she is best known for an article claiming that medical crises are largely responsible for personal bankruptcies. Warren’s article has been used (as she no doubt intended) to promote socialized medicine, but it has been thoroughly debunked. See Gail Heriot’s analysis in the Texas Review of Law & Politics, embedded below.

Former FBI agent Peter Strzok, who led the Bureau’s investigation into both the Hillary Clinton email scandal and what turned out to be the Russia hoax–simultaneously!–has sued the Attorney General over his ultimate dismissal from the Bureau. A filing in that case a few days ago has made public the letter to Strzok from Candice Will of the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility that suspended Strzok without pay for 60 days and demoted him to a non-supervisory position. Researchers linked to the Chinese government formed a Chinese cell within the Department of Energy, attained access to American genomic data, and recruited other U.S. researchers to join, the bipartisan report stated.
China’s Thousand Talents Plan (TTP) aims to get foreign governments to finance the communist power’s military and economy by buying off researchers who are doing work abroad. The experts apply to the program, and if approved by the Communist Party, they join China’s payroll and sign secret side agreements that the experts will share their research with that country, according to the investigation.

About his strategy, I could make a quick and accurate analogy with medication: most pills are designed to cure a problem, but come with an array of secondary after-effects. Well, Trump is using medication solely for their after-effects, while the first intent of the pill is what’s keeping him in power and alive. By the end of this article, you’ll see that this metaphor applies for just about every decision, move or declaration he’s made. Once you understand what Trump is about, you’ll be able to appreciate the extraordinary presidency he’s conducting, like no predecessor ever came close to match.
…
Donald simply doesn’t care if you like him or not, which makes him the ultimate anti-narcissist, by its psychological definition. And that’s not even up for opinion, it’s a quite simple and undeniable fact.

While “Mayor Pete” rises in the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, it is a delight to watch the media tiptoe around his very weak pull with black voters. The New York Times today ran a story headlined, “Pete Buttigieg is Struggling with Black Voters. Here’s Why.” Except the story never really tells you probably the biggest reason why: American blacks are highly hostile to homosexuality. This fact goes completely unmentioned anywhere in the Times story, no doubt because it would blow all the fuses at the Times‘s intersectionality switchboard.
