Indigenous Chief Wants ‘Stolen’ Ben & Jerry’s HQ Land

7th July 2023

Read it.

The recent controversy surrounding Ben & Jerry’s and its calls to reclaim “stolen Indigenous land” is heating up.

An Indigenous tribe, descended from the Native American nation, originally controlled the Vermont territory where the ice cream giant’s headquarters is located, and its chief wants it back, Newsweek reported Friday.

According to the report, Don Stevens, chief of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation — one of four descended from the Abenaki that are recognized in Vermont — said his tribe was “always interested in reclaiming the stewardship of our lands.”

Ben & Jerry’s has yet to reach out.

Proglodytes have absolutely no capacity for thinking things through. And these guys are supposed to be the smart ones? I think not.

Well played. The unwashed tie-dye ice cream hippies can either look like liars or they can hand over the corporate HQ. If there is a boycott, (and there should have been one for the last 40 years) then there is the same potential for negative sales numbers that Bud lite has dealt with. I suspect the tribe will be bought off with a large bribe, but the risk of damage to the brand is significant. Most of the dairies that supply these hucksters with raw material are privately owned farms. The threat of being identified as an affiliate and threatened with land repatriation in public will be more heat than these small farms will be willing to take. I’m looking forward to how this one plays out. Perhaps there will be a new faction rising in our civil deconstruction, A BLM inspired Indigenous movement insisting on AMIndian reparations and/or land repatriation. There is a commie themed farm/agribusiness near me that makes some big talk about how they exist on stolen land. I should suggest to the local tribes that they get in touch and demand their land back.
