DYSPEPSIA GENERATION

We have seen the future, and it sucks.

The Richer They Get, the More Meat They Eat

19th August 2022

Read it.

We are omnivores, not herbivores. Natural selection has formed us to eat both plant and animal foods and to like doing so. Chimpanzees, the primates that are genetically the closest to us, deliberately hunt, kill, and eat small monkeys, wild pigs, and tortoises, annually consuming 4 to 12 kilograms of meat per capita for the entire population and up to 25 kg per adult male; that is more than in many preindustrial farming societies.

It is well to keep this biological fact in mind when considering outlandish claims about the imminent victory of veganism.

The technical term for vegetarians is ‘prey’.

Veganism is a religion, not a diet. Nobody else sits and lectures everyone else at the table about what to eat and why.

I had a vegan friend that shared an article on FB about how horrible milk was. According to the author, farmers deliberately get their cows pregnant every year and kill the offspring so that they can steal the milk intended for those poor calves. She and her friends that read the article were pissed when I explained the biology of mammals to them and it’s not necessary to get pregnant more than once in order to produce milk for a lifetime. I had to explain to an angry reader or two that indeed I was capable of understanding the biology of certain organs without actually being born with a pair of them. I suggested they check with their respective doctors. Apparently one or two did and somehow that just made them angrier. For a short time I became the Salmon Rushdie of teats.

I don’t know what surprised me more – that women didn’t know how their own, basic physiology works or that they managed to go to school and sit through biology classes without even accidentally learning anything.

Here’s another thing: When I say, “No, thanks, I don’t eat guacamole”, my wife says, “More for me!”. But if a vegan says they don’t eat meat, “More for Me!” gets a response akin to the Spanish Inquisition finding a heretic.

Any man who refuses to eat guacaamole is my brother, no matter whatever race or condition he may be.
