Senate Dem Proposal Would Hike Taxes on Lower Incomes

Of course it will.
When Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) went on NBC’s “Meet the Press” yesterday he said that the $700 billion climate change, energy, and health care proposal he announced last week with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would not raise taxes. “We should not increase taxes, and we did not increase taxes,” he told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
But a new study by the U.S. Congress’s nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation has found that not only would the legislation increase taxes, it would increase taxes by $11 billion more on Americans earning below $200,000 per year than on Americans earning between $500,000 and $1 million, in 2023.
And the legislation would increase taxes by $3 billion more on Americans earning below $200,000 per year than on Americans earning between $200,000 and $500,000 per year.
I hope it doesn’t come as a surprise to him that Democrats lie.

Manchin is in an interesting position. His state was originally Republican, then became nearly 100% Democrat over the years – mostly coal and steel union Democrat. The Democrats systematically closed down steel and coal, so that “unemployed” is now a career in WV. Democrat or not, the state overwhelmingly voted for Trump – esp. against Hillary Clinton. So Manchin is a remnant of the old Dems, but his voters want Trump. His voters are poor, so the Dems can offer “free stuff”, but they really hate the socialist corruption and under no circumstances are they giving up the 2nd Amendment. Manchin can play the Dem party like a violin at this point because they are going to have to give him the moon if they want his support and his constituents will keep him in office if he tells them to pound sand. Picture how hard it is for Schumer from Big Blue NY to have to kiss up to the senator from the Hillbilly State. It’s probably even more aggravating for the Left Coast Dems.
