Pass-Through Deduction (199A) Will Fuel Wealth Inequality

28th December 2018

Read it.

This is in Forbes, allegedly a business magazine but in reality these days just another Voice of the Crust.

Totally undiscussed in this article is (a) why ‘wealth inequality’ is a bad thing and (b) why increasing ‘wealth inequality’ is a bad thing.

The author has a great deal of expertise in accounting but no obvious expertise either in accounting or philosophy. He has strongly-held opinions, obviously, but apparently feels under no obligation to explain why we should give a shit.

I could start screaming CHUCK SCHUMER IS COVERED IN MOSQUITO BITES! and it wouldn’t tell you a damned thing about Chuck Schumer (other than the fact that he was maybe covered in mosquito bites). Unless I make the effort to connect the dots (no pun intended), it takes not one step on the road to justifying my obvious opinion that being covered with mosquito bites somehow implies a failing on the part of Chuck Schumer. Unless that effort is made, I may feel sorry for Chuck Schumer on account of all of his mosquito bites, but it doesn’t tell me anything negative about his character. Similarly, telling me that Jeff Bezos gets paid a squillion times what one of his package-stuffers is paid tells me nothing about Jeff Bezos except that he is highly compensated. It may make me envy Jeff Bezos but it doesn’t tell me a damned thing about his character. If you think that’s a bad thing, EXPLAIN WHY.
