The wrongful death suit claims that Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) evidence has “emerged proving that TWA 800’s explosion was not caused by any defect in the airplane, but instead by an errant United States missile fired at aerial target drones flying nearby. “
The suit, brought by the survivors of those onboard, explains that TWA 800 took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:20 p.m. on July 17, 1996 bound for Paris. “Within twelve minutes of takeoff, the plane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York,” the suit says.
I love the smell of conspiracy in the morning.

Everyone knows about the egg problem, which is being chalked up to a bird flu, just as Putin was responsible for the gas price and greedy meat processors caused beef prices to soar. Sorry but this is ridiculous. The price of eggs is up dramatically because all the costs associated with making them available to consumers are up.

Following the spiral of violence witnessed since Christmas which so far has seen some 20 shootings and explosive detonations across Sweden—mainly in the Stockholm area—that have resulted in at least two people losing their lives, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) called this past weekend’s wave of violence as “among the worst” to hit the country in a “very long time.”
While speaking to the Swedish state-run broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) on Monday, January 24th, the center-Right prime minister, who only assumed high office several months ago, did not mince his words, referring to those responsible for the violence, namely gang-related groups, “the domestic terrorists of our time.”
A report from the Stockholm-based newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) stated that since Friday evening, alone, “there has been a detonation in a stairwell, three shootings at homes, and a murder of a 40-year-old man in Solna.”

Jan. 22 to Jan. 28 is National School Choice Week, and what better way to highlight the fact that parents today have more choices for their children’s education than ever before than by celebrating Iowa’s Students First Act being signed into law on Tuesday?
The year 2011 was deemed “the year of school choice” after 12 states enacted new—or expanded existing—school choice programs, including Arizona establishing the nation’s first education savings accounts program.
A decade later, 2021 was named “the year of education choice,” in which 18 states enacted seven new education choice programs and expanded 21 existing ones—primarily education savings accounts.

One of Shakespeare’s most famous lines is from Henry VI. The pretenders to the throne are plotting and a character named Dick the Butcher says, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers”. The line has been interpreted many ways within the context of the play, but most people remember it at face value. In order to get anything done, you must first get rid of the hairsplitters, gainsayers and schemers that have always defined the legal profession. It is a lovely thought.
Like all humor, it is funny because it contains a kernel of truth. Lawyers, given enough time, can fashion an argument for or against anything. You see this in the recurring debate about the trillion dollar coin. This is the claim that the executive can get around Congressional spending and borrowing limits by minting a trillion dollar coin. The mint would strike a coin whose value would result in one trillion in seigniorage . This is the difference between the value of the coin and its cost.

McCord, a counselor at Pendleton Heights High School in the South Madison Community School Corporation in Indiana, confirmed documents unearthed by parents in Madison County showing that counselors were asking teachers not to reveal a student’s new name and pronouns to parents.
Madison County is north and east of Indianapolis.

In 2013, an activist holiday called “World Hijab Day” was foisted upon us, urging “women of all religions and backgrounds to wear and experience the hijab for a day and to educate and spread awareness on why hijab is worn.” In the past 10 years World Hijab Day has steadily grown from a minor social media event into the World Hijab Day Organization, a well-connected 501(c)(3) non-profit, “committed to dismantling bigotry, discrimination and prejudice against Muslim women,” as its mission statement proclaims.
Don’t hold your breath.

The only way to balance the budget is to spend less. Even if the Democrats allowed them to do that, which won’t happen with them in control of the Senate and the Presidency, there is no practical incentive for them to do that–you can’t by votes by spending less, and our entire electoral system is set up to encourage legislators to get re-elected by providing taxpayer-funded Free Stuff to their constituents.

For decades, a family of crystals has stumped physicists with its baffling ability to superconduct — that is, carry an electric current without any resistance — at far warmer temperatures than other materials.
Now, an experiment years in the making has directly visualized superconductivity on the atomic scale in one of these crystals, finally revealing the cause of the phenomenon to nearly everyone’s satisfaction. Electrons appear to nudge each other into a frictionless flow in a manner first suggested by a venerable theory nearly as old as the mystery itself.

The latest Congressional Budget Office report released earlier this month calculated that the federal government collected $4.9 trillion of federal revenue last year. This was up — ready for this? — almost $1.5 trillion since 2017, the year before the tax cuts became law.
In other words, revenues were up 40% in five years. The evidence through the first three years of the tax cut finds that the share of taxes paid by the wealthiest 1% rose as well. So much for this being a tax giveaway for the rich.

The City of Minneapolis was in decline before covid, and before George Floyd. Abysmal governance and high costs had closed or driven away many businesses. Then came the covid shutdowns, riots and skyrocketing violence, and the city has turned into a disaster area. Who would want to try to run a business in Minneapolis? Not many people, it turns out. So the city’s streets are lined with closed or abandoned storefronts.
This gave Minneapolis’s City Council a great idea: a tax on vacancy! That will force whoever owns the buildings to put businesses in them whether they like it or not, and regardless of whether they make money. Brilliant.

Seven people were shot to death on Monday afternoon in San Mateo County, Calif., the sheriff’s office said, the second mass shooting in the state in three days.
The shooting happened around 2:20 p.m. local time at two separate locations near Highway 92 and the Half Moon Bay city limits, about 30 miles south of San Francisco, the authorities said. An eighth person was transported to Stanford Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Boy, those strict gun control laws in California really work, don’t they? Funny how this sort of thing doesn’t happen so often in Texas.

Setting aside how credible any data released by the BLS now is – considering that not just this website but even the Philly Fed has challenged the accuracy of the Payroll reports’ Establishment survey, while Goldman recent found that actual layoffs as indicated by state WARN notices are far higher than those seasonally adjusted by the Department of Labor, there was one data point that prompted quite a few commentators to scratch their heads. Recall that one of the reasons stocks were pleasantly surprised by the jobs report is that not only did payrolls dip again (if printing as usual above average), but average hourly earnings slumped. But there was more: alongside the decline in wages, average hours worked also declined (which had a material impact on the average wages, and had hours been flat, the decline in average wages would have been even more pronounced).

I friend recently sold his company and asked me if there was a list out there of what he can now buy with his newfound money. Why isn’t a list of items you can consider now that you are rich? Nobody pats you on the back and says welcome to the rich club.
I have several friends now who had 7 and 8 figure exits so I decided to just ask them as well as look at my own spending since I had a little extra cash. They all seem to have a few ideas but no one had a really comprehensive list.
Have people whacked. I have a list….

We live in a new age of enforced uniformity, prosecuted in the name of preserving “our democracy” and keeping “disinformation” and “far right lies” at bay. The Harvard intellectual historian James Hankins has aptly spoken of an “information oligarchy” that is committed to maintaining and enforcing its monopoly on the truth. In this surreal world of “democratic” uniformity, certain “truths” are beyond challenge or question. To challenge them with evidence, logic, and a more faithful regard for the truth is to risk being dismissed as an extremist or conspiracy theorist. The independent-minded, those who refuse to bow before what George Orwell so memorably called “smelly little orthodoxies,” are candidates to be cancelled and confined to the category of those beyond the pale. The Left has a preferred name for this: those who resist the pressure of intellectual conformity, of stifling political correctness, are “enemies of democracy.”

Minnesota Democrats are pressing on offense since Governor Walz won reelection and they took charge of the legislature last month. “Let’s go crazy” seems to be their motto.
Last month five contributors signed off on an op-ed column to the Star Tribune supporting their push for menstrual equity. Two of the five are DFL legislators — Senator Steve Cwodzinski and Rep. Sandra Feist. They were joined by “menstrual educator” Carolyn Handke, National Council of Jewish Women Minnesota executive director Erica Solomon, and Hopkins High School Student Elif Ozturk.
They support passage of the Menstrual Equity Bill (HF44/SF50). According to the column: “This bill will require all Minnesota district and charter schools to provide free menstrual products in all bathrooms, grades four through 12, ensuring access for all students who menstruate.” Their column concluded on this appropriately insane note: “In 2023 we must show our commitment to our women, girls and all menstruators in Minnesota schools….” All menstruators are created equal, or something.

A New York consultant who reportedly published false news articles about political figures has created a website called the San Francisco Inquirer, which is designed as a local news site but appears to be an effort to pressure federal lawmakers into supporting the consultant’s client, a Bay Area-based tribe.
The website has so riled California lawmakers that it was recently the subject of a tense meeting in Washington, D.C., between the tribe’s chair and five members of Congress, according to audio of the meeting obtained by The Chronicle.
Apparently Democrats don’t like being treated the way they usually treat Republicans.

Some watchers of the U.S. Supreme Court breathed a sigh of relief last month after most of the justices sounded skeptical during oral arguments about a once-fringe legal theory that could upend elections across the United States.
Still, many legal scholars and voting rights advocates remain on alert for a court ruling by this summer on what’s known as the “independent state legislature theory.” It claims that under the U.S. Constitution, state legislatures have the power to determine how federal elections are run, without any checks or balances from state constitutions or state courts.
Which is, literally, what the Constitution says. The reason this has Wokerati panties in a wedge is because it is through the courts that the manipulation of election rules (that have profited Democrats since 2020) has been accomplished.

For Americans, California once looked like the future. It was a state defined by risk-taking and utopian dreaming. Yet for most Californians today, the upward mobility so central to the state’s ethos is rapidly disappearing. For decades, California was the primary destination for both other Americans and for foreign immigrants. Now, this trend has gone into reverse, with people and companies leaving the state. Population growth, already slowing over the past decade, has turned negative for the first time in modern California’s history, largely due to the state’s shrinking middle and working classes and its loss of families.
California’s difficulties undermine the notion, so fashionable today, that with the right mixture of technology and utopian dreaming, societies can forge a future that is both green and widely prosperous. In reality, California now has America’s worst rates of cost-of-living-adjusted poverty and functional illiteracy, the worst housing affordability in the continental US and a devastating shortage of mid-skilled jobs. What’s more, in 2022, California suffered some of the lowest personal-income growth rates in the country, and its GDP grew at less than half the pace of its arch-rival, Texas.

One of Stan Evans‘s many great quips was that it was fortunate Republican politicians were pro-life, since they spend so much time in the fetal position. The lack of fight in congressional Republicans was a source of endless frustration for Stan, and despite some indications the new House GOP majority may pick some worthy fights, in some areas they are already proving to be a colossal failure.
