The Taliban on Monday banned barbershops in a southern Afghanistan province from shaving or trimming beards, claiming their edict is in line with Shariah, or Islamic, law.
The order in Helmand province was issued by the provincial Taliban government’s vice and virtue department to barbers in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.
Just a reminder that Islam is an oppressive totalitarian ideology under the guise of a religion with which no co-existence is possible.

An irony of the modern age is the growing absence of reason and the growing predominance of mysticism among the atheists.
Witchcraft is popular among the Woke.

ZMan is delightfully dyspeptic today.
Early in the Covid panic it was clear that some people were embracing the panic for reasons that had nothing to do with public health. The harridan assaulting people in the grocery store over the bizarre new rules was doing it because suddenly she had a purpose to her life. This was starkly obvious with the Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer, who made herself harridan-in-chief. All of a sudden, inconsequential people had purpose and meaning to their lives.

As I wrote earlier it’s puzzling that there isn’t more attention given to air filtration and UV light disinfection in hospitals, since these techniques have been shown to kill superbugs.
A recent paper also shows that air filtration and UV disinfection can greatly reduces SARS-COV-II in hospital wards. The authors installed portable air filters with UV disinfection on two COVID hospital wards in the UK. The air was tested for viruses, bacteria and fungi before the filters were turned on, during the time the filters were on and then again after the filters were turned off.
I find this appalling.

It’s too soon to know what caused the Saturday derailment of Amtrak’s Empire Builder that took the lives of three people. What we do know is that a train that had room for at least 350 paying passengers was carrying fewer than 150 (reports vary between 141 and 147).
Sounds as if the ones that didn’t take the train were the smart ones. Trains take you from where you aren’t to where you don’t want to be, and take twice as long (at least) as other forms of transportation. Who needs that?

Steve Sailer jerks back the Narrative Media curtain.
Hmmmhmmmhmm … what could be the reasons for the lack of media attention to UK Thang’s mass shooting?
- Because, while UK Thang shot 15 people, he only murdered one. If the media were to go into hyperdrive over every one dead/many wounded mass shootings, it would be full of black unwanted party guest incidents each weekend.
- The press went insane over the white guy in the Atlanta spa shooting killing 6 Asians (as well as two miscellaneous) at a time when it was trying to blame the upsurge in black-on-Asian violence on Trump saying the words “China Flu” a year before. The Boulder shooter initially was thought to be another white man before it turned out he was named Ahmad Al Aliwi Al-Issa, at which point the press lost interest.
- The Collierville shooter was a refugee from Burma named UK Thang. ‘Nuf said.

Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election was a traumatic event for many women, especially the white ones with college educations, lucrative professional careers, and an unhealthy obsession with politics that fills a gaping void in their lives by reinforcing their feelings of moral supremacy over their fellow Americans.
Women like Jennifer Rubin, the prolific social media user and Washington Post opinion columnist who once accused former president Barack Obama of having more sympathy for “the Muslim World” than for his fellow Americans, but has since reinvented herself as “one of the most reliable defenders of the Biden administration,” according to Politico.

Face it: Human beings are pretty stupid sometimes. We fall for astrology, vote for morons, buy into conspiracy theories, and send our money to obvious scammers. Today, all this seems to be getting worse as “fake news” and “disinformation” take root and the country fragments along partisan lines—not just when it comes to political beliefs but even when it comes to basic facts.
Oddly enough, though, we’re also stunningly brilliant. Not only have the brightest among us produced stunning feats of science and technology, but even normal people, working without modern tools, can use reason to improve their lives. The hunting-and-gathering that humans did long ago required extensive knowledge and careful thought about plants, seasons, animal behavior, and how humans might get what they want from the world around them.
Steven Pinker keeps trying to get people to be more rational. Obviously, it’s not working. But it provides a great market for his books.

Are you ready to ‘challenge man box culture?’ asks the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s Women’s Center. Or maybe that special man in your life suffers from ‘privilege’ and needs rehab through Brown University’s Masculinity Peer Education program.
But what about young men looking for meaningful, non-confrontational connections on campus? That scene is awfully dry. While groups like Women in STEM and Women in Business boost female students’ confidence by treating them as capable and competent professionals, college-aged men are often left with little to give their lives direction.
Don’t expect these trends to change anytime soon either. According to the Wall Street Journal, women now make up nearly 60% of the college population, an all-time high. While feminists might celebrate the fact that women, who once faced barriers to getting an education, are now comfortably positioned to take high-paying jobs and thus close the much derided ‘gender pay gap,’ anyone raising a son ought to be concerned.
That’s find. We still need plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and welders – I doubt that the Basic College Girl is going to be lining up for that sort of job. And when the Gender Studies Major asks you whether you want fries with that, well….

Recall the blockbuster New York Post story in the end run up to the 2020 election? The major scoop that Hunter Biden had left a laptop at a repair shop – and the repairman found all kind of illicit doings (and pictures!) on the computer?
The story was not only hotly denied by the Biden campaign and — falsely — assailed as part of a Russian disinformation campaign, it was suppressed by its Big Tech allies and ignored by the Democrat’s liberal media buddies.
Now comes Politico, of all places, to confess that…well, um, ahhh…ok, yes. The Post story was in fact true. An amused Post editorial headlined: “The Hunter Biden laptop is confirmed?! Color us shocked!”

A new housing development with a working farm at its center has broken ground in Santa Clara, California — the latest example of the “agrihood” trend taking root across the U.S.
Very locally grown: As the name implies, an agrihood is a neighborhood built around some sort of agriculture, such as a garden, farm, or orchard. Residents might live in single-family homes or apartments, and the agrihood itself can be in an urban, suburban, or rural area.
Most agrihoods have farm managers, but residents can volunteer to participate in the growing of crops, and in some cases, they get dedicated plots for personal gardens.
The harvested produce from the main farm is sometimes given to residents, but more often they buy it at on-site markets or through monthly subscription packages. Some of the crops may be sold to local restaurants or donated to the larger community.

We know the Clovis era population of 13,000 years ago was a very big deal because the Americas’ mega-fauna, such as woolly mammoths and sabre-tooth tigers soon began to die off and go extinct. Rather than blame it on the ancestors of the American Indians eating them, it’s polite to blame the extinctions on climate change: you see, at the end of Ice Ages, the weather got nicer, so all the giant beasts just died from joy, or something. For example, the La Brea Tarpits museum explains that during the Ice Age, the climate of Los Angeles was like the Monterey Peninsula south of San Francisco today, so of course the giant beasts all just died (because how could they possibly walk all the way to the Monterey Peninsula?).

The serious Hunter Biden scandals are all obout Joe Biden. That’s why they had to be crushed by the corporate media, Big Tech, and the Deep State in advance of the 2020 election. However, thanks to Business Insider (paywall protected) we have two new emails on which to meditate.
The New York Post originally reported on the secrets buried in Hunter Biden’s laptop. The Post’s reporting was suppressed by the forces arrayed against Donald Trump. The Post is now back on the case:

Zman’s weekly podcast. Highly recommended.
It looks like the news next week will be about the legitimacy question as someone leaked a draft copy of the Arizona audit report this morning. This was done so the media could promote the regime lines about the election. When the real report is released, it will not support the coordinated headlines this morning, but by the time the real report is out it will be “old news” and ignored. People will be left with the official narrative and never learn the truth. This is a standard ploy.
What these people do not realize is that this undermines the credibility of the system rather than knocking the critics for a loop. After all, it should be the job of the media to ask who leaked the draft and what was her motives. Someone in the media should ask why the exact same story is in dozens of news sites at the same time. Of course, no one will ask, and the critics will take the silence and the obvious coordination as proof that their claims are correct. The coordinated lies just make things worse.

When Hunter came up, like during the impeachment in early 2020, “news” anchors like CNN’s John Berman gushed to Jill Biden: “You have called Hunter the heart and soul of the Biden family.” And: “As a mother how has it affected you?” (He should have said “as a stepmother” on the Facts First network.)
But then came that “aha” moment. Politico reporter Ben Schreckinger has a new book coming out simply titled The Bidens. It promises to explain how “Like the Kennedys before them, the Bidens are a tight-knit, idealistic Irish Catholic clan with good looks, dynastic ambitions, and serious personal problems.”
Politico’s “Playbook” newsletter proclaimed the new book by their reporter “finds evidence that some of the purported Hunter Biden laptop material is genuine, including two emails at the center of last October’s controversy.”

Pakistan admits that more Chinese will be working and living in Pakistan over the next four years. By 2025 Pakistan expects to host as many as five million Chinese. This is being celebrated by the government as Chinese confidence in doing business in Pakistan. Many Pakistanis and even more Afghans are considerably less enthusiastic.
As the Pakistani government openly celebrates the Taliban victory, the Pakistani military are celebrating their own victory over Pakistani elected officials who opposed continued military and ISI support of Islamic terrorism, the drug trade and Taliban violence in Afghanistan. Now the army sees itself firmly in control of Pakistan and able to compel voters to do as they are told. The current prime minister, who got elected with considerable military help in 2018, was nicknamed “Taliban Kahn” long before he entered politics a decade ago. By 2018 Pakistan had serious money problems and sources of foreign aid and loans were drying up, in part because Pakistan was internationally recognized as a supporter of Islamic terrorism.
