Ammo Grrrll has the answers.
A story appeared a few days after the election about a poor, troubled woman who had just started a new relationship with a real live man, but now was so upset by the election of President Trump whom she feared and hated, that she felt compelled to end her new relationship and hunker down in terror. I say: “Run, guy! You dodged a bullet!”
Amen.
It does make me sad that many women looking for good men do not seem to know where to find them. I’m here to help. Movies are useless, with men and women always meeting “cute.” She drops her purse on the street, stuff falls all over, and a gorgeous man picks up her things. They bump heads going for the lipstick, eyes lock, hands touch. Most cities, you drop your purse on the street, you are never going to see its contents again, let alone the purse. If a guy does pick up stuff, he is likely to be a homeless guy lunging for your embarrassingly large secret stash of Fun Size Snickers.
Now (trigger warning) I’m about to get very cis-normative here, so grab some Play-Doh. Ladies, with rare exceptions, men are not going to be at your yoga class, your line dancing class or your card-making class. They may be at your flower arranging class, but will only notice the flowers, see above. So where do appropriate men hang out? You know, the kind who are never even momentarily ambivalent about which restroom to use.
Clue: Not in ‘class’.
You can look for a husband at the grocery store, another movie favorite, but they are likely to be someone else’s husband. With some impressive exceptions, single men do not shop or cook. Their fridges contain yogurt, mustard and bologna, many of which are expired, and beer. They go out a lot or eat things that can be microwaved and eaten on a paper plate or over the sink. If you do find a straight, single man who cooks, grab him!
By the love handles — he’ll have ’em.
Lastly, we come to one of the best places to meet men. A place where the male to female ratio is exceedingly favorable. A place where, for some reason, few women go on a regular basis. I’m talking, of course, about the gun range.
Wisdom. Attend.
You must also negotiate for an adequate ‘portion’, i.e. the number of books that the prospective spouse will bring to the marriage.

Granted that people who were brought here as children aren’t to blame for their illegal status, the people who actually are to blame are their parents, not Donald Trump.

The mass letter writing campaign, organised by the independent Youth Centre for Development and Innovation in Nablus, ran for 11 days in the run up to January 20 – Mr Trump’s inauguration day.
It collected notes for the president from young Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza, those displaced from Syria to Lebanon and the diaspora to draw Mr Trump’s attention to their desire to cooperate with the US in the peace process, centre director Mohammed Abu Ras told Al-Monitor.
Since not a fucking one of them is an American voter, why he is expected to give a shit is unexplained.

ZMan lays it out.
When I was a teenager, abortion was one of the big issues in politics and social policy. Bill Buckley used to say it was one of three issues that told you everything about a man’s politics. It turns out he was wrong about that, as so many of his tribe were pro-life for effect, as a part of the Frank Meyer “fusionism” strategy. Putting that aside, for normal people, abortion was the issue that defined you politically. Liberals were pro-abortion and non-liberals were pro-life. The latter emphasized the sanctity and uniqueness of each life while the former rejected that entirely.
Here we are 30 years later and abortion is not much of an issue for our politicians. There are some who make it a centerpiece of their politics, but they are rare exceptions. The so-called conservatives that we see in the commentariat wince when the topic is raised. You get the sense they look at it like public professions of faith, something the Dirt People still do, but unbecoming of a Cloud Person. They go through the motions, as we will see with the court nominee, but the result will be that a “conservative” judge will swear to never ever think about altering abortion law.
…
“Once unthinkable” basically means last week. In the Bush years, we had big fights about the use of embryonic stem cells for use in experiments. Now, we’re about to start experimenting on actual humans, without really knowing the result. This is, of course, eugenics. The Cloud People will not use the word, because they believe they killed that word and the bad juju that comes with it, but that’s just the nature of magical thinking. Once you step onto the path of designing humans, you are in the world of eugenics.

Tyler Cowen, a Real Economist, looks at automation.
“Why should it be different this time?” That’s the most common response I hear when I raise concerns about automation and the future of jobs, and it’s a pretty simple rejoinder. The Western world managed the shift out of agricultural jobs into industry, and continued to see economic growth. So will not the jobs being displaced now by automation and artificial intelligence lead to new jobs elsewhere in a broadly similar and beneficial manner? Will not the former truck drivers, displaced by self-driving vehicles, find work caring for the elderly or maybe fixing or programming the new modes of transport?
As economics, that may well be correct, but as history it’s missing some central problems. The shift out of agricultural jobs, while eventually a boon for virtually all of humanity, brought significant problems along the way. This time probably won’t be different, and that’s exactly why we should be concerned.
…
Industrialization, and the decline of the older jobs in agriculture and the crafts economy, also had some pernicious effects on social ideas. The early to mid-19th century saw the rise of socialist ideologies, largely as a response to economic disruptions. Whatever mistakes Karl Marx made, he was a keen observer of the Industrial Revolution, and there is a reason he became so influential. He failed to see the long-run ability of capitalism to raise living standards significantly, but he understood and vividly described the transition costs and the economic volatility.

Then, after you’ve discovered that the Acme Company has also supplied Wile E. Coyote with Roadrunner-catching equipment since the Truman Administration, you decide to “drain the swamp.” And then—surprise! surprise! —you’re devastated to learn that the swamp you tried to drain simply filled up again from tributaries that cannot be shut off. And you’ve been paying for those tributaries, too, for a long, long time. In fact, you’ve discovered that these streams are not only exorbitantly pricey, but frequently destructive, parasitic, and virtually impregnable. Question is, what can you do?

There may be a looming environmental disaster in North Dakota, but the problem isn’t the Dakota Access Pipeline. It’s the people protesting it.
After the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a statement demanding that the Oceti Sakowin Camp be closed by February 22 over concerns of flooding, many protesters packed up and departed. Left behind was their trash and waste, NBC News reported.
Oceti Sakowin Camp sits in a lowland area where the Missouri and Cannonball Rivers converge, making it a prime location for flooding. The record winter snowfall heightens the chances as spring arrives. And with flooding comes the risk of water contamination as trash and human waste could be swept into the nearby rivers.
There’s irony for you — the threat to the environment comes from the enviro-Nazis’ rent-a-mob.

According to an article in the New York Times, independent bookstores are declaring themselves foot soldiers in the left’s so-called “resistance” against our president. Apparently, “bookstores have entered the fray, taking on roles ranging from meeting place to political war room.” Because what’s better than businesses getting political?
The article goes into many examples of bookstores taking up metaphorical arms as a squadron in the left-wing’s chaos campaign. For example, one bookstore has given out free samples of a book called “We Should All Be Feminists” by an author named Chinamanda Ngozi Adichie. “All over the country” bookstores are placing George Orwell’s “1984” and Sinclair Lewis’ “It Can’t Happen Here” in their windows. They are also apparently calling the very front display table in their stores the “#Resist table.” (Why does it need a hashtag?)

Richard Cordray, head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), is on the hot seat. In January, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request revealed that Director Cordray used a private device for government communications with CFPB employees, while failing to create appropriate records of messages with the agency—a clear violation of government policy.
If not the law.
According to Ronald Rubin, a former CFPB enforcement attorney, Republican applicants were regularly ruled out of agency jobs. “As screening techniques improved, Republicans were more easily identified and rejected,” Rubin says, culminating in a culture of “political discrimination.” He elaborates on the CFPB’s early plans: “The enlarged new agency would be staffed with Democrats, top to bottom. There would not be a Republican director nominee for at least five years, and if one was ever confirmed, entrenched left-wing managers could undermine ‘attempts to weaken consumer protection.’”

Chinese students at a California university are protesting over the institution’s refusal to adhere to the Communist Party of China’s bottom line on the Tibetan spiritual leader — the Dalai Lama.
The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) has invited the exiled Tibetan leader to deliver the keynote address at this year’s commencement ceremony, and Chinese students are outraged, Inside Higher Ed reports. In a rather peculiar turn of events, these Chinese students, who would not be permitted to protest in China due to government regulations, are using the growing trend of campus activism in the U.S. to pressure UCSD to accept the Chinese government’s official position on the Dalai Lama.

FOE gave kids a lunch menu designed to eliminate foods it says are “unsustainable for our planet.” The new menu features far less meat and more plant-based food. Any meat or cheese the school did use came from “pastured, organic dairy cows.” The student’s lunch menu went from beef hot dogs and pepperoni pizza to vegan stir fry tofu and vegan tostadas. The new FOE-approved menu served meat and cheese-less frequently and reduced the portion sizes.
Not that they asked the kids. God forbid.
The district and FOE claimed the lunch program was healthier than before, but only on the basis that food from plants is typically healthier than meat. The study justifies its health claims by stating average poultry consumption fell. FOE did not undertake an actual study into whether or not the lunches improved student health.
And if anyone tracks what food kinds dump in the trash, they’ll find that (like Michelle Obama’s food choices) they aren’t eating this crap but going out for McDonald’s.
The reason more and more people are homeschooling their kids is, among others, this tendency for government bureaucrats to use school kids as lab rats in pursuit of the proglodyte agenda.

Kang’s opening volley – Should Athletes Stick to Sports? – is a rhetorical question. He agrees with sports media critic Bryan Curtis that it’s a moot point now. “Trump’s presidency, with its daily explosions, has made it impossible to cover pro sports, even in the simplest box-score ways, without detouring onto the White House lawn. This comes, in part, from the way basic sports coverage works. Reporters ask questions before and after every game, and when the only thing anyone wants to talk about is Trump, some of those questions will be about the president.”
But the cart’s leading the horse here! Biased media are baiting athletes with loaded questions, then claiming “the only thing anyone wants to talk about is Trump.” Later the confused Kang admits the media endlessly badgered Tom Brady about his “Make America Great Again” hat. That’s right, and Kang’s copout notwithstanding, it’s the media driving the trend, not the other way around. Sports journalist are liberal, and liberals are constantly shrinking the spaces that have traditionally been politics-free. It’s what they do.

Celebrities denounced Texas’s potential transgender bathroom bill in an open letter Tuesday.
Stars like Jimmy Kimmel, Jennifer Lawrence and Lady Gaga asked leaders in the Texas government to strike down the bill, claiming the legislation would harm transgender children, reports My Statesman.
Harm how?
“Transgender and gender-nonconforming young people are already subjected to bullying and harassment. Can you imagine the messages these bills send to children- the message of ‘that child is unwelcome. that child is dangerous?’” the letter admonished Texas leaders.
Perhaps the message is to conform. I don’t see how it will be heard above all of the encouraging messages that they get from the Crust.
Senate Bill 6 and House Bill 1362, the legislation in question, would prevent transgenders from using the bathroom according to their gender identity in public schools and government property. Schools would be allowed to provide alternate accommodations for transgenders, however.
Problem solved, then. (But, of course, that’s not the real goal — the real goal is forcing normal people to accept abnormal people as normal, and that war is far from over.)
The signers claimed the bills “criminalize” being transgender and deny transgenders their “basic human dignity.”
Don’t see any criminal penalties in there for the kids, just the DemLegHump Schools. I guess ‘basic human dignity’ somehow involves the right to be weird and to have everybody else not notice.
“It is up to you whether these bills will become law, and we are watching. It is up to us to commit to doing everything within our power to make sure all of our fans, crews, and fellow artists feel safe and welcome, wherever we go,” the letter stated.
Aha, so it’s not about transgender kids, it’s about transgender adults. The Truth Will Out. Well, I for one don’t care whether your ‘fans, crews, and fellow artists’ feel welcome in Texas, wherever else you might want to go (and we Texans would really wish you would go there instead).

According to Reuters, Daniel Ramirez Medina was brought to the United States as a child and granted quasi-legal status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The previous administration created DACA to allow undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children — or “Dreamers” — to remain in the country.
Immigration officials apprehended and detained Ramirez on Friday. One of the attorney’s representing Ramirez — Ethan Dettmer, a partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher — told Reuters that his client is likely the first DACA recipient detained under the Trump administration.
But not the last, presumably.
“ICE officers took Mr Ramirez into custody based on his admitted gang affiliation and risk to public safety,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokeswoman, Rose Richeson, said in a statement to Reuters.
In any event, if he’s here illegally, kick his ass out.
“Daniel must be given his freedom, now. Donald Trump’s executive orders have made everyone a priority for deportation. Under Trump’s America, no one is safe. Donald Trump and Republicans must say in no uncertain terms that DACA recipients are safe,” Greisa Martinez, the advocacy director of the pro-amnesty group United We Dream, said in a statement.

Scott Johnson at Powerline looks at the Trump/Russian kerfuffle.
Faceless bureaucrats in the intelligence and law enforcement community seek to take down the Trump administration on some pretext relating to Russia. That is my takeaway from the New York Times story “Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence” by Michael Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti and Matt Apuzzo. The Times story appears to be an extension of the covert campaign waged to cashier Michael Flynn noted by Eli Lake (Bloomberg), Damon Linker (The Week) and John Podhoretz (New York Post).
The big Times story is linked by Drudge and full of incriminating innuendo. It is the innuendo that strikes me most forcibly as I read the story.
…
Even putting the innuendo to one side, the story’s three reporters are what literary critics call unreliable narrators. Here is their description of Trump’s sarcastic comment at the press conference late this past July in the course of the campaign (video below): “At one point last summer, Mr. Trump said at a campaign event that he hoped Russian intelligence services had stolen Hillary Clinton’s emails and would make them public.” That is a lie, not to put too fine a point on it.

If you pay any attention to the DemLegHump Media (and I can’t think of any reason why you would), you will notice a concerted attempt to tug on any loose thread in the new Trump administration in a valiant attempt to pull it apart. They’ve somehow pulled Michael Flynn loose, and so they’re going over the rest of the incoming team like a chimp in search of a flea on his brother’s butt. This has now gone to ridiculous extremes.
Example: Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence
An article of 30 paragraphs, carefully crafted to suggest that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian intelligence to cheat Hillary of the Presidency.
The key is paragraph three: ‘The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, so far, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation.’
So where’s the story? The truth is that there is no story. The rest of the verbiage details the desperate attempts of Leftist bureaucrats to find something, anything, on which to hang a more serious charge. But they can’t. The dogs are running all over the landscape, and they can’t find a scent. But you’re meant to get the impression that there’s a scent there, somewhere, and it’s just a matter of time before they find it.
This isn’t news. This is the sort of thing you see in the supermarket check-out line tabloids; the fact that it’s in the New York Times proglodytes says pretty plainly that they’ve taken off the mask and are now not bothering to disguise the fact that they are just a propaganda organ for the Democrat party and the of the American left.

Activists fear the new President’s team may remove archives of valuable scientific information following his campaign declaration that “no one really knows” whether climate change is real, and his nomination for head of the Environmental Protection Agency of a man who describes himself as a “leading advocate” against the body.
In other words. they’re afraid that he will act as they would were they in his position. This tells us more about them than about Trump.

For the past five days France has been engulfed by widespread culture-enriching riots, similar to those of 2005. Carbecues, vandalism, street violence, assault, robbery — all the usual features of immigrant protests against social injustice.

The Canadian Border Security Agency says Quebec is now the flashpoint for “asylum seekers” or double refugees who first entered the U.S. as refugees and are now fleeing there and trying to sneak into Canada over fears that President Donald Trump will have them deported.
Well, Trudeau said they’re welcome. Not a problem, right?
The “refugees” are deliberately crossing illegally so they can bypass the Safe Third Country Agreement, which is supposed to prevent people seeking asylum from choosing more than one “safe” destination when the flee their country of origin. The U.S. and Canada are both considered safe under this international legislation. But, paradoxically, the act only applies at legal border crossings; so double refugees are crossing illegally in order avoid their official refugee status from being questioned.
Lawbreakers break the law. It’s what they do. Canada is welcome to all the U.S. lawbreakers they can stand.

The Other McCain lays out some inconvenient truth.
Spain is dying. The total fertility rate — average number of lifetime births per woman — is 1.49 in Spain, and this is nearly 30% below replacement level. In December 2015, demographers noted that Spain had passed a crucial milestone — more deaths than births, a harbinger of population decline. Before a nation dies, it first grows old, and the graying population of Spain creates a heavy burden on the country’s pension and health care system, as there are fewer and fewer younger workers to pay taxes.
What Spain is now facing is demographic winter, and a Spanish businessman named Alejandro Macarrón Larumbe has created an organization called Renacimiento Demografico (Demographic Renaissance) to spread awareness of this looming social problem.
