The most interesting thing about the Harry Potter world is how it unconsciously reflects the current state of British society — a stratified culture riddled with consequent resentments suffocating under an overlay of pervasive government.
(Can you see an American author assuming that there would be such a thing as a Ministry of Magic? I can’t. But no Brit Rowling’s age, who grew up under clumsy British socialism, would give it a thought — OF COURSE there’s a Ministry of Magic; there’s a Ministry for EVERYTHING.)
It comes as no surprise that the author, Rowling, takes public positions that reflect conventionally proglodyte views.
