One of the things I regret about our modern world is the decline of the ‘prep’ class. Prep isn’t what you wear; it’s how you wear it. A prep was relaxed, genial, and generous, words which hardly describe those we see wandering about sporting Ralph Lauren (nee Lipschitz) shirts with foot high logos. “Grasping” and “striving” are more accurate terms.
However, with the decline of old money, and the relentless beat of the celebrity drum, true prep is in decline. More’s the pity.
