The \u201cmetro\u201d prefix is utterly apt; it\u2019s the \u201csexual\u201d part that\u2019s off. These nominal heteros are consciously or subconsciously mimicking gay twinks, and those fellows usually want to get laid. Their fragile straight counterparts, in contrast, don\u2019t look like they could manage it, or even <em>want<\/em> to.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In that much maligned \u201cmanosphere,\u201d the term \u201cbeta male\u201d is the most popular pejorative. Since it\u2019s fresher and more accurate than \u201cmetrosexual,\u201d I\u2019ll be using that phrase henceforth, along with that unfairly neglected anachronism \u201cfaggotry.\u201d It\u2019s ideal for my purposes because it doesn\u2019t necessarily mean \u201cgay\u201d so much as \u201cgay-ish.\u201d So I\u2019m trying to bring that word back.
