Bad Dog Tools have been making the rounds of woodworking shows for years. I’ve got 2 of their sets. What they did was put a high quality tool steel on the end of the bit and leave the rest if it as cheaper quality steel – thus being cheap, but good at cutting. Umm, at least until you get the tool hot, then the cheap steel causes it to fail.
