Group Calls on Congress to Suspend NIH Grants After China Receives $90 Million
31st July 2011
A conservative group is calling on Congress to temporarily suspend funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) after releasing a study that found the agency wasted half a billion dollars in taxpayer money on “bizarre projects,” and gave more than $90 million to China, America’s largest creditor, over the last decade for other research.
Funny how liberal groups never get up in arms about this kind of waste.
No wonder our national debt is bumping the limit.

The NIH “wasted” $1 billion, and that’s the reason we’re bumping up against the debt limit? Really? You’ve got to be kidding.
The Pentagon wastes $1 billion a year changing nameplates in the building, but the NIH is the reason we’re in deep debt doo-doo? Billions are sent to farmers who don’t need it in order to prevent their growing crops, but the NIH is the problem?
You want to shoot the mice but let the elephants run free…

Nagel, are you defending China again?

I don’t know about shooting the mice, Dennis, but we should at least stop feeding them.

I think in terms of relative importance, the amount of crops the mice eat pales by comparison to the amount of acerage the elephants are trampling.
