    I thought it would be about last names, not first names. Here, it’s a leading syllable of “Ja” or “La”. There was a story making the rounds about a woman pissed at the teachers for mispronouncing her daughter’s name: “La-a” as “law-aww” instead of her intended, “La-dash-ah”.

    I really, really hate hyphenated last names. We had a system and it worked pretty well. Now we just have confusion. I guess when a Jones-Smith marries a Johnson-Swanson, the kids can just make up a name rather than have to keep up with the list.

    I do kinda like the GOT nomenclature where illegitimate kids are named “Snow” or “Sand”, etc., based on their location. I suspect we could get some pretty interesting versions of that. Maybe, “Trailerpark” or “One-nighter” or “Condom-fail”
