Trump’s Bipartisan Politics Only Surprising Because of Obama

13th September 2017

Read it.

The biggest surprise in President Trump’s willingness to work with Democrats is how much of a surprise it is to much of America. Expressions of shock are coming from all corners, suggesting that many of us view fierce polarization as normal and bipartisanship as abnormal.

If so, add that to the legacy of Barack Obama. He was the ultimate my-way or the highway president.

    I call bullshit.
Mitch McConnell and the Republicans paved the way with their overtly stated attempt to make Obama a “one-term president” by categorically opposing anything he attempted out of hand.

    Looking in a mirror?

They categorically opposed anything he attempted because he attempted the same old fascist Democrat all-government-all-the-time policies. It required no personal animus against Obama to oppose his bullshit.

Does it surprise you that Republicans would attempt to make Obama a one-term President? If he hadn’t been The Magic Negro, it would have worked. But there are too many people who voted for him only on his skin color; if you want racism, there it is, straight up.

And so you follow the classic conservative tactic of changing the subject to the hobby-horse you love to ride into the ground.
Personal animus wasn’t under discussion. Nor was racism. But that’s what YOU wanted to talk about, so you did.

The categorical opposition was established before Obama attempted anything, so it couldn’t have been a reaction to what he attempted. Your justification is both tautological and specious.

And nothing obstructionist that Republicans do ever surprises me. After all, that’s the essence of conservatism: Don’t matter what it is, I’m against it.

The categorical opposition was established by Obama’s big mouth on the campaign trail. Or are you suggesting that he’s a congenital liar, like the Clintons, and didn’t mean anything he said? Mind you, I have no problem believing that — Democrats have been liars throughout history.
