Bridget Jones’s Baby Reviews Roundup: Your Favourite Hapless Heroine Is Back and She’s as Lovable as Ever

6th September 2016

Read it.

Perhaps I’m revealing too much about myself here, but I don’t find Bridget Jones ‘lovable’; at best I find her tedious.

The world is full of self-indulgent people being praised for kinda-sorta dealing with problems they wouldn’t have if they weren’t so self-indulgent. I fail to see any reason to watch a movie about one. It would be like watching a movie about someone who, through carelessness, shoots himself in the foot and then ‘valiantly struggles’ to deal with the result for the next two hours. My impulse is to say Own Damned Fault and move on.

Had a similar discussion a few weeks back when some neighbors were gathered for an event. It seemed that there are 2 distinct camps: those who love to watch a train wreck and those who see that as something to avoid.

    I’m in the “avoid” camp.
