We have seen the future, and it sucks.

Fashion Ads From The 1970s

25th July 2016

I am not making this up.

I was safely ensconced in the Navy and college during this period, and so thank God missed most of it.

It’s a strange decade – bell bottoms and radical colors for the early ’70s (which were really connected to the ’60s) – and then synthetic city for the tragic disco era at the end of the decade.

Discos would never let me in the door, as I refused to dress like John Travolta. That worked out well, as I hated the so-called disco music (all the same song – just fronted by the coke-head singer of the month).

The ’70s brought us the collapse of the Nixon administration, Jimmuh Carter, oil embargo (and lines at the gas station), runaway inflation (thanks, Jimmy!), the death of rock and the birth of disco. I’m not nostalgic.
