Nearly 10,000 people turned out to hear Bernie Sanders in Wisconsin. Why? Apparently, many Democrats want socialism.

Sanders calls himself a “democratic socialist,” not to be confused with New York City mayor Bill de Blasio’s preferred label, “social democrat,” but both believe that more power and wealth in the hands of government (and less in the hands of free people and the free market) is a good thing. They just don’t want you to think they’re dictators like Stalin. They may institute terrible economic policies, but they’ll have the backing of voters.

I think what they want is to be able to stop denying they are socialists. Let’s just throw the turd on the table and get it over with…

They can’t call themselves communists because the American Communist Party would sue. (I suspect they wouldn’t want their reputation spoiled by being associated with people like Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, …)

*sigh* I wish people would give up this outdated meme of Socialism = Stalinism. Stalin’s policies had as much to do with socialism as did Nero’s.

“Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”. You can look it up. If they considered themselves socialists, who are you to say that they are not?
