Got Milk? Might Not Be Doing You Much Good

More and more evidence is surfacing, however, that milk consumption may not only be unhelpful, it might also be detrimental. This is in spite of the fact that the United States Department of Agriculture and other organizations advocate that even adults should drink at least three cups a day.

It all boils down to money. What “crops” allow farmers to have a monthly paycheck? Milk, eggs, maybe chickens. Everything else takes time to raise and only pays out once or twice a year. Without steady income, it’s impossible to take out loans and difficult to pay taxes. Milk means cash flow, so the USDA is going to push it as a health food for everyone.

Anyone remember Reagan ordering the government to distribute cheese and butter to the elderly and food shelters instead of putting it in landfills? That program still exists.

I remember getting some of that cheese when I was in grad school. A five pound block. Took us forever to eat it.
